Significance of constitutive integrase synthesis. [PDF]
One conceivable function for constitutive integrase formation by lambda prophage is to stabilize the inserted state by catalyzing reinsertion of prophages that are accidentally excised. As this hypothesis implies a dynamic equilibrium betwen inserted and noninserted DNA, the existence of such an equilibrium is explored.

Leukocyte count and new‐onset diabetes mellitus in people with HIV: A longitudinal study
Abstract Objectives The risk of diabetes mellitus (DM) is increased in people with HIV. Chronic inflammation contributes to DM risk. High leukocytes are associated with DM in the general population, but in people with HIV, evidence of a leukocyte–DM association is limited. Methods We included participants of the Swiss HIV Cohort Study with new‐onset DM

Germline transformation of the Drosophila suzukii se1 strain with the wild‐type sepia gene (~1.8 kb) using a piggyBac vector. Most lines show full rescue of sepia mutant eye colour. The lines express phage phiC31 integrase in the germline using a Dsnanos promoter.

Characterization of the Functional Domains of Human Foamy Virus Integrase Using Chimeric Integrases
Retroviral integrases insert viral DNA into target DNA. In this process they recognize their own DNA specifically via functional domains. In order to analyze these functional domains, we constructed six chimeric integrases by swapping domains between HIV-1 and HFV integrases, and two point mutants of HFV integrase.

ABSTRACT The kākāpō is a critically endangered flightless parrot which suffers from exudative cloacitis, a debilitating disease resulting in inflammation of the vent margin or cloaca. Despite this disease emerging over 20 years ago, the cause of exudative cloacitis remains elusive.

SITE-SPECIFIC RECOMBINATION OF THE MYCOBACTERIUM TUBERCULOSISPROPHAGE-LIKE ELEMENT PHIRV1 [PDF]
The site-specific recombination systems of bacteriophages and other mobile elements fall into two categories that are named for the integrase protein that catalyzes integration and excision of the phage genome.

Dynamic patterns of repeats and retrotransposons in the centromeres of Humulus lupulus L.
Summary The centromere has a conserved function across eukaryotes; however, the associated DNA sequences exhibit remarkable diversity in both size and structure. In plants, some species possess well‐defined centromeres dominated by tandem satellite repeats and centromeric retrotransposons, while others have centromeric regions composed almost entirely ...
