Integrability, non-integrability and confinement [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment, 2011
We discuss the main features of quantum integrable models taking the classes of universality of the Ising model and the repulsive Lieb-Liniger model as paradigmatic examples. We address the breaking of integrability by means of two approaches, the Form Factor Perturbation Theory and semiclassical methods. Each of them has its own advantage.

Multi frequency multi bit amplitude modulation of spoof surface plasmon polaritons by schottky diode bridged interdigital SRRs

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Multi-frequency multi-bit programmable amplitude modulation (AM) of spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) is realized at millimeter wave frequencies with interdigital split-ring resonators (SRRs) and In-Ga-Zn-O (IGZO) Schottky diodes.

Integration of BPM systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
New technologies have emerged to support the global economy where for instance suppliers, manufactures and retailers are working together in order to minimise the cost and maximise efficiency. One of the technologies that has become a buzz word for many

Hyperelliptic Integrals to Elliptic Integrals

open access: yesProceedings of the 2023 International Symposium on Symbolic and Algebraic Computation, 2023
Consider a hyperelliptic integral $I=\int P/(Q\sqrt{S}) dx$, $P,Q,S\in\mathbb{K}[x]$, with $[\mathbb{K}:\mathbb{Q}]<\infty$. When $S$ is of degree $\leq 4$, such integral can be calculated in terms of elementary functions and elliptic integrals of three kinds $\mathcal{F},\mathcal{E},Π$.

Submitting a manuscript for peer review - integrity, integrity, integrity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, 2013
AbstractPublication of a flawed manuscript has significant consequences for the progress of science. When this proves to be intentional, science is brought into disrepute and this puts even more pressure on the shrinking resources that society is prepared to invest in research.

Intron‐oriented HTLV‐1 integration in an adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma cell line sustains expression of intact ift81 mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In the adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) cell line ED, the human T‐cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) provirus was integrated into the intron of the ift81 gene in the antisense orientation. Despite this integration, both the intact ift81 and the viral oncogene hbz were simultaneously expressed, likely due to the functional insufficiency of viral ...

Competitive E?ects of Vertical Integration with Downstream Oligopsony and Oligopoly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We analyze the competitive e?ects of backward vertical integration by a partially vertically integrated ?rm that competes with non-integrated ?rms both upstream and downstream.

Singular integrals with angular integrability

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2016
In this note we prove a class of sharp inequalities for singular integral operators in weighted Lebesgue spaces with angular integrability.

The epithelial barrier theory proposes a comprehensive explanation for the origins of allergic and other chronic noncommunicable diseases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Exposure to common noxious agents (1), including allergens, pollutants, and micro‐nanoplastics, can cause epithelial barrier damage (2) in our body's protective linings. This may trigger an immune response to our microbiome (3). The epithelial barrier theory explains how this process can lead to chronic noncommunicable diseases (4) affecting organs ...

Quantification of upper limb position sense using an exoskeleton and a virtual reality display

open access: yesJournal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation, 2018
Background Proprioceptive sense plays a significant role in the generation and correction of skilled movements and, consequently, in most activities of daily living. We developed a new proprioception assessment protocol that enables the quantification of
