Overview of αvß3-integrin-specific optoacoustic imaging.

open access: yes, 2018
Balb/c nude mouse. Axial plane. Tumor margins indicated by white dashed line. A: Optoacoustic image (850 nm). B: Spectrally unmixed αvß3-integrin-specific signal. C: Overlay of A and B.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Siglec-E promotes β2-integrin-dependent NADPH oxidase activation to suppress neutrophil recruitment to the lung [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Siglec-E is a sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin expressed on murine myeloid cells. It has recently been shown to function as a negative regulator of ß2-integrin-dependent neutrophil recruitment to the lung following exposure to lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Evolutionarily distant I domains can functionally replace the essential ligand-binding domain of Plasmodium TRAP

open access: yeseLife, 2020
Inserted (I) domains function as ligand-binding domains in adhesins that support cell adhesion and migration in many eukaryotic phyla. These adhesins include integrin αβ heterodimers in metazoans and single subunit transmembrane proteins in apicomplexans

Investigating the role of alpha 5 beta 1-integrin in fibrotic posterior capsular opacification (PCO)

open access: yes, 2021
Duncan, Melinda K.Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is a major complication of cataract surgery. The lens epithelial cells remaining behind post cataract surgery undergo epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) and transform into myofibroblasts.

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Effects of Anti-Integrin Treatment With Vedolizumab on Immune Pathways and Cytokines in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Background and aimsDespite proven clinical efficacy of vedolizumab (VDZ) for inducing and maintaining remission in patients with Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), subgroups of patients have no therapeutic benefit from anti-α4β7 integrin ...

Surface Co-Presentation of BMP-2 and Integrin Selective Ligands at the Nanoscale Favors β1 Integrin Adhesion

open access: yes, 2019
Here we present the use of surface nanopatterning of covalently immobilized BMP-2 and integrin selective ligands to determine the specificity of their interactions in regulating cell adhesion and focal adhesion assembly. Gold nanoparticle arrays carrying

Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Multiple Sclerosis Relapse Activity After Ozanimod Discontinuation in DAYBREAK Trial Participants. ABSTRACT Objective Return of disease activity is expected when patients discontinue disease‐modifying therapy (DMT) for multiple sclerosis (MS). Some MS DMTs are associated with higher‐than‐expected disease activity (rebound) after discontinuation.
