Glucose Transporter 1 Promotes the Malignant Phenotype of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer through Integrin β1/Src/FAK Signaling

open access: yesJournal of Cancer, 2019
Background: Glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) is the main factor of Warburg effect, which is associated with poor prognosis in many tumors. However, the underlying molecular mechanism of GLUT1 in the progression of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is ...

Expression of factor V by resident macrophages boosts host defense in the peritoneal cavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Macrophages resident in different organs express distinct genes, but understanding how this diversity fits into tissue-specific features is limited. Here, we show that selective expression of coagulation factor V (FV) by resident peritoneal macrophages ...

Reinforcing Stromal Cell Spheroid Through Red‐Light Preconditioning for Advanced Vascularization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to enhance stromal cell therapy for myocardial infarction by combining OLED‐based photobiomodulation (OPBM) preconditioning with 3D spheroid culture of hADSCs. The engineered spheroids improve angiogenesis, arterialization, and cardiac function in vivo, offering a next‐generation therapeutic strategy to overcome ...

α-Lipoic acid sensitizes lung cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents and anoikis via integrin β1/β3 downregulation.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Oncology, 2016
Chemotherapeutic failure and metastasis are the main causes of high mortality rate in lung cancer. Alteration of cellular redox status in response to endogenous stimuli or exogenous compounds has a significant impact on cell signaling and behavior ...

Kindlin Regulates Mechanosensitive Activation and Adhesion Assembly of Integrin beta6

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Extracellular matrix compliance plays a critical role in the regulation of integrin‐mediated adhesion and cell motility. Here, it is reported that strengthening the kindlin2‐integrin β6 interaction overcomes the dependence on extracellular substrate stiffness and promotes integrin β6‐mediated cell migration.

Expression of Integrins and Extracellular Matrix Proteins in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer:Correlation with Tumor Metastasis and Prognosis

open access: yesChinese Journal of Lung Cancer, 2009
Background and objective As invasion and metastasis of cancer seriously threaten human's life, it is of more important clinical significance to understand and evaluate the biologic behavior of cancer correctly.

Leader cells regulate collective cell migration via Rac activation in the downstream signaling of integrin β1 and PI3K

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2015
Collective cell migration plays a crucial role in several biological processes, such as embryonic development, wound healing and cancer metastasis. Here, we focused on collectively migrating Madin-Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) epithelial cells that follow a

Piezo1 Activation Improves NSCLC Liver Metastasis Immunotherapy by Overriding Matrix Stiffness‐Mediated Bimodal PD‐L1/CXCL10 Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that Piezo1 activation enhances FAK‐YAP‐mediated upregulation of PD‐L1 and CXCL10, thereby promoting an immunotherapy‐responsive tumor microenvironment in NSCLC. Cyclic stretch modulates the PD‐L1/CXCL10 response to ECM stiffness, reshaping their expression dynamics.

Integrin β1 subunit regulates cellular and secreted MUC5AC and MUC5B production in NCI–H292 human lung epithelial cells

open access: yesBiochemistry and Biophysics Reports, 2021
The surface of the human respiratory tract is covered with a mucus layer containing mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) and mucin 5B (MUC5B) as the main components. This layer contributes to biological defense by eliminating irritants, but excessive MUC5AC secretion by ...

Cryptotanshinone hinders renal fibrosis and epithelial transdifferentiation in obstructive nephropathy by inhibiting TGF-β1/Smad3/integrin β1 signal

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2017
Recent studies have reported that CTS can alleviate cardiac fibrosis. However, the effects of CTS on kidney fibrosis and EMT are still unknown. This study explored whether CTS could attenuate tubulointerstitial fibrosis as well as EMT, and investigated ...
