On the study of the FSO link performance under controlled turbulence and fog atmospheric conditions

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, the effect of turbulence and fog on the free space optical (FSO) communication systems for on off keying (OOK), pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) and subcarrier intensity modulation (SIM) based on binary phase shift keying (BPSK) is ...

A tunable WDM wavelength converter based on cross phase modulation effects in normal dispersion holey fiber

open access: yes, 2003
We demonstrate a tunable wavelength-division-multiplexing wavelength converter based on cross-phase modulation in just 5.8m of highly nonlinear normal dispersion holey fiber (HF) and incorporating a precise compression-tuned apodized fiber-grating filter.

Beyond intensity modulation: new approaches to pump-probe microscopy

open access: yes, 2020
Pump-probe microscopy is an emerging nonlinear imaging technique based on high repetition rate lasers and fast intensity modulation. Here we present new methods for pump-probe microscopy that keep the beam intensity constant and instead modulate the ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

High-speed operation of optical exclusive OR circuit based on balanced detection and intensity modulation

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2015
We report the evaluated results of an optical exclusive OR (XOR) circuit for high-speed binary signals, which operates based on balanced detection and intensity modulation.

The 22-Year Hale Cycle in Cosmic Ray Flux – Evidence for Direct Heliospheric Modulation

open access: yes, 2014
The ability to predict times of greater galactic cosmic ray (GCR) fluxes is important for reducing the hazards caused by these particles to satellite communications, aviation, or astronauts.
