Attenuation of cytotoxic natural product DNA intercalating agents by caffeine. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Pharm, 2011
Many anti-tumor drugs function by intercalating into DNA. The xanthine alkaloid caffeine can also intercalate into DNA as well as form π-π molecular complexes with other planar alkaloids and anti-tumor drugs. The presence of caffeine could interfere with the intercalating anti-tumor drug by forming π-π molecular complexes with the drug, thereby ...

Radiosensitization by the novel DNA intercalating agent vosaroxin [PDF]

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2012
Vosaroxin is a first in class naphthyridine analog structurally related to quinolone antibacterials, that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II. Vosaroxin is not a P-glycoprotein receptor substrate and its activity is independent of p53, thus evading common drug resistance mechanisms.

A rare PALB2 germline variant causing G2/M cell cycle arrest is associated with isolated myelosarcoma in infancy

open access: yesMolecular Genetics & Genomic Medicine, 2021
Background Isolated myelosarcoma of infancy is a rare presentation of acute myelogenous leukaemia (AML). Because of its rarity and early onset in infancy underlying genetic predisposition is potentially relevant in disease initiation. Methods and Results

Crystal Structures of DNA Intercalating Agents Dipyrido[3,2-f:2′,3′-h]quinoxaline (dpq), (Benzo[i]dipyrido[3,2-a:2′,3′c]phenazine (dppn), and [Ir(ppy)2(dppn)][PF6] (Where Hppy = 2-Phenylpyridine)

open access: yesInorganics, 2023
Pyrazino-phenanthroline ligands are commonly used with transition metals as DNA intercalation agents. Herein, we report the characterization of two commonly utilized pyrazino-phenanthroline ligands, dipyrido[3,2-f:2′,3′-h]quinoxaline (dpq) and (benzo[i ...

Platinum Intercalators of DNA as Anticancer Agents [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, 2017
The drawbacks of the platinum chemotherapy agents cisplatin, carboplatin and oxaliplatin have inspired the development of compounds with different mechanisms of action. Polyaromatic platinum complexes (PPCs) are a promising anticancer alternative; these bind reversibly with DNA through the insertion of a planar aromatic moiety between nucleobases in a ...

Green and simple production of graphite intercalation compound used sodium bicarbonate as intercalation agent

open access: yesBMC Chemistry, 2022
AbstractIn view of the technical difficulties in the preparation of graphite intercalation compound (GIC) such as complex processes, the need to use strong acid reagents, and the product containing corrosive elements. A novel, efficient and simple method used sodium bicarbonate as intercalation agent was developed, which combined with mechanical force ...

Câncer e agentes antineoplásicos ciclo-celular específicos e ciclo-celular não específicos que interagem com o DNA: uma introdução Cancer and cell cicle-specific and cell cicle nonspecific anticancer DNA-interactive agents: an introduction

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2005
The chemotherapy agents against cancer may be classified as "cell cycle-specific" or "cell cycle-nonspecific". Nevertheless, several of them have their biological activity related to any kind of action on DNA such as: antimetabolic agents (DNA synthesis ...

Generation of 500-Member Library of 10-Alkyl-2-R1,3-R2-4,10-Dihydrobenzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2-α]pyrimidin-4-ones

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
Representative benzimidazopyrimidinones were previously reported to be intercalating antitumor agents. In this work, we used 2-substituted 4,10-dihydrobenzo [4,5]imidazo[1,2-α]pyriminin-4-ones for their diversification by regioselective alkylation. Under

Mitotic progression, arrest, exit or death relies on centromere structural integrity, rather than de novo transcription

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Recent studies have challenged the prevailing dogma that transcription is repressed during mitosis. Transcription was also proposed to sustain a robust spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) response.
