Interferon gamma release assays for diagnosing active and latent tuberculosis
Expert Opinion on Medical Diagnostics, 2009In view of the continuing global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB), adequate diagnosis is crucial for controlling this disease. Two commercial interferon gamma release assays (IGRA) have become available: the QuantiFERON-TB (QFT) and the T-SPOT.TB (TSPOT). They offer an important new tool for detecting both latent and active TB.

Screening for Mycobacterium tuberculosis Using an Interferon-Gamma Release Assay
Journal of Public Health Management and Practice, 2012The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend analyzing characteristics of populations screened for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection using interferon-gamma release assays (IGRAs).We characterized requests for IGRA analyses submitted to the first laboratory in Washington State that began to offer IGRAs as a tuberculosis screening test. [Research agenda of interferon-gamma release assays].
Kekkaku : [Tuberculosis], 2009Recently, new diagnostic tests for tuberculosis infection that are more specific than tuberculin skin tests have been developed and have become commercially available. These tests determine interferon-gamma production after stimulation with M. tuberculosis-specific antigens, ESAT-6 and CFP-10, and are named Interferon-Gamma Release Assays (IGRA ...

Interferon-gamma-release assay prevents unnecessary tuberculosis therapy.
The Israel Medical Association journal : IMAJ, 2015The mass influx of immigrants from tuberculosis-endemic countries into Israel was followed by a considerable increase in the incidence of tuberculosis (TB). All contacts of active TB patients are obliged to be screened by tuberculin skin tests (TST) and, if found positive, prophylactic treatment is considered. To assess the utility of interferon-gamma ...

Serial Interferon Gamma Release Assay in Latent Tuberculosis Infection
Laboratory medicine, 2009The aim of this report is to present results of serial interferon-gamma (IFN-γ ) determination (QuantiFERON-TB Gold In-Tube assay) in a 57-year-old BCG-vaccinated female health care worker with a latent tuberculosis infection. Increased IFN-γ , IgA, and anti-thyroglobulin (anti-Tg) autoantibodies were recorded throughout a 13-month follow-up.
