Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase-M suppresses systemic lupus erythematosus [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2011
Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK)-M suppresses Toll-like receptor (TLR)-mediated activation of innate immunity during infection. A similar role was hypothesised for IRAK-M in autoimmunity.Irak-m-deficient mice were crossed with autoimmune C57BL/6-lpr/lpr mice and detailed phenotype analysis was performed.Irak-m deficiency converted the ...

Characterization of a gp130 Signaling Receptor Polymorphism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We previously reported an association between human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8) seroprevalence and increased prostate cancer risk among men on the Caribbean island of Tobago.

Dissection of PIM serine/threonine kinases in FLT3-ITD-induced leukemogenesis reveals PIM1 as regulator of CXCL12-CXCR4-mediated homing and migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
FLT3-ITD-mediated leukemogenesis is associated with increased expression of oncogenic PIM serine/threonine kinases. To dissect their role in FLT3-ITD-mediated transformation, we performed bone marrow reconstitution assays.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

O-Cyclic Phytosphingosine-1-Phosphate Protects against Motor Dysfunctions and Glial Cell Mediated Neuroinflammation in the Parkinson’s Disease Mouse Models

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2022
O-cyclic phytosphingosine-1-phosphate (cPS1P) is a novel and chemically synthesized sphingosine metabolite derived from phytosphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P).

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Characterization of Interleukin-1 Receptor-associated Kinase in Normal and Endotoxin-tolerant Cells [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2000
Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK), a signal transducer for interleukin-1, has also been suggested to participate in the Toll-like receptor-mediated innate immune response to bacterial endotoxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Using the human promonocytic THP-1 cell line, we demonstrated that the endogenous IRAK is quickly activated in response ...

Ligand induced cleavage and nuclear localization of the rice XA21 immune receptor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The rice XA21 receptor confers immunity to the Gram-negative bacterial pathogen, _Xanthomonas oryzae_ pv. _oryzae_ (_Xoo_) upon recognition of the conserved microbial signature AxY^S^22.
