Interleukin-1 Receptor antagonist Production by Human Keratinocytes

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1992
Human keratinocytes produce biologically active pro-IL-1 alpha and inactive pro-IL-1 beta with most protein remaining intracellular. IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) is a newly described member of the IL-1 family that is secreted by stimulated monocytes and binds competitively to IL-1 receptors without stimulating target cells.

Ladarixin, a dual CXCR1/2 inhibitor, attenuates experimental melanomas harboring different molecular defects by affecting malignant cells and tumor microenvironment. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
CXCR1 and CXCR2 chemokine receptors and their ligands (CXCL1/2/3/7/8) play an important role in tumor progression. Tested to date CXCR1/2 antagonists and chemokine-targeted antibodies were reported to affect malignant cells in vitro and in animal models.

Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist competitively inhibits the binding of interleukin-1 to the type II interleukin-1 receptor

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1991
The interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) inhibits the binding of interleukin-1 (IL-1) to T-cell lines possessing the type I IL-1 receptor; evidence has been published (Carter, D. B., Deibel, M. R. J., Dunn, C. J., Tomich, C. S., Laborde, A. L., Slightom, J. L., Berger, A. E., Bienkowski, M. J., Sun, F. F., McEwan, R. N., Harris, P. K. W., Yem, A.

Schizophrenia is a TH2 dominant autoimmune disease possibly against acetylcholine receptors of CNS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Schizophrenia is a very common psychiatric disorder. However, its etiology and pathogenesis is still unknown. Current theory saying that neurotransmitter imbalance such as serotonin or dopamine only provides limited effectiveness in schizophrenia ...

IFN-gamma is associated with risk of Schistosoma japonicum infection in China.

open access: yes, 2003
Before the start of the schistosomiasis transmission season, 129 villagers resident on a Schistosoma japonicum-endemic island in Poyang Lake, Jiangxi Province, 64 of whom were stool-positive for S.

Mature tau pathology is not improved by interfering with interleukin-1 receptor signaling in two mouse models of tauopathy.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Prior work suggests that the cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) may be a key regulator of tau pathology in the presence of amyloidosis. Here, we tested the possible benefits of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA) gene therapy in two mouse models of ...

Vitamin D receptor and interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene polymorphism in spinal tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Our earlier studies revealed that both MHC (Major Histocomptibility Complex) and non-MHC genes are associated with the susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis (TB).

Targeted delivery of anti-inflammatory therapy to rheumatoid tissue by fusion proteins containing an IL-4-linked synovial targeting peptide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We provide first-time evidence that the synovial endothelium-targeting peptide (SyETP) CKSTHDRLC successfully delivers conjugated IL-4 to human rheumatoid synovium transplanted into SCID mice. SyETP, previously isolated by in vivo phage display and shown
