Interleukin 1beta in serum of women with preterm uterine contractions
Preterm delivery is a major obstetric and public health problem, accounting for 50-70% of all perinatal deaths. An enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) test was used to determine serum interleukin 1b (IL-1b) levels in 32 women with preterm contractions compared with 26 women in term labour and 11 normal preterm pregnant women.

Zeolite abrogates cadmium-induced testicular damage in rats: implication of NF-κB/ TNF-α/IL-1β Pathway [PDF]
Cadmium (Cd) is an environmental pollutant affecting various tissues and organs, including the testis. Many studies demonstrated that Cd toxicity causes testicular impairment through oxidative stress and inflammatory action.

Long‐lasting remodeling of astrocytes in an Scna1+/− mouse model of Dravet syndrome
Abstract Objective Dravet syndrome (DS) is a prototypical developmental and epileptic encephalopathy caused by mutations in the SCN1A gene, leading to loss of function of the voltage‐gated sodium channel Naᵥ1.1. The latter causes early onset drug‐resistant seizures and enduring cognitive and behavioral deficits.

Nociceptors Are Interleukin-1β Sensors [PDF]
A cardinal feature of inflammation is heightened pain sensitivity at the site of the inflamed tissue. This results from the local release by immune and injured cells of nociceptor sensitizers, including prostaglandin E2, bradykinin, and nerve growth factor, that reduce the threshold and increase the excitability of the peripheral terminals of ...

Berberine alleviates cell pyroptosis in diabetic retinopathy by regulating AKT1, JUN, and STAT3
Berberine alleviates diabetic retinopathy by reducing pyroptosis through AKT1/JUN/STAT3 regulation, as validated in rat models via network pharmacology, molecular docking, and experimental assays. Abstract Berberine (BBR) exerts an effective protection for diabetic retinopathy (DR), but the underlying key molecular mechanism remains unknown; this study
