Differences in Inflammatory Markers between Nulliparous Women Admitted to Hospitals in Preactive vs Active Labor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objective To determine whether labor-associated inflammatory markers differ between low-risk, nulliparous women in preactive vs active labor at hospital admission and over time.

USP7 Regulates TRPV1 Deubiquitination to Mediate Chondrocyte Ferroptosis and Alleviate Osteoarthritis

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common degenerative joint disease characterized by chondrocyte dysfunction. In this study, we explored the function and mechanism of ubiquitin‐specific protease 7 (USP7) in chondrocyte ferroptosis in OA. The USP7, TRPV1, collagen II, and GPX4 levels in knee joint tissue were detected using immunohistochemistry ...

Evaluation of interleukin -1B (+3954) gene polymorphism in patients with chronic and aggressive periodontitis: A genetic association study

open access: yesContemporary Clinical Dentistry, 2012
Background: IL-1 cytokines have central roles in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease. Polymorphism in the locus +3954 (C/T) of the human IL-1B gene has been shown to affect the levels of this cytokine.

Differential IL-1β secretion by monocyte subsets is regulated by Hsp27 through modulating mRNA stability. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Monocytes play a central role in regulating inflammation in response to infection or injury, and during auto-inflammatory diseases. Human blood contains classical, intermediate and non-classical monocyte subsets that each express characteristic patterns ...

Peripheral Inflammation and Sleep Loss Induce Coordinated Motivational Changes: An Experimental Two‐Hit Stress Model

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sleep loss and low‐grade inflammation are common stressors that affect behaviour and recovery needs. To examine their separate and combined effects on motivation for everyday behaviours, we developed a two‐hit experimental model. Participants (N = 56, 31 women) completed three experimental visits: sleep saturation (two nights, 9 h in bed/night)

Salivary inflammatory mediators and metalloproteinase 3 in patients with chronic severe periodontitis before and after periodontal phase I therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The role of IL-1β, PGE2 and MMP-3 in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease is well researched. This study aimed to asses and compared the salivary IL-1β, PGE2 and MMP-3 levels in patients with untreated chronic severe periodontitis and those treated ...

Reactive oxygen species regulate caspase-11 expression and activation of the non-canonical NLRP3 inflammasome during enteric pathogen infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Enteropathogenic and enterohemorrhagic bacterial infections in humans are a severe cause of morbidity and mortality. Although NOD-like receptors (NLRs) NOD2 and NLRP3 have important roles in the generation of protective immune responses to enteric ...

Kontrolle der monozytären Interleukin-1beta-Freisetzung durch alpha1-Antitrypsin

open access: yes, 2020
The release of the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) by monocytes can contribute to the development of a systemic inflammation and therefore requires strict control. In addition to its function as an anti-protease, the acute phase protein alpha1-antitrypsin (AAT) has multiple anti- inflammatory properties that can be potentially be

Celecoxib alleviates nociceptor sensitization mediated by interleukin-1beta-primed annulus fibrosus cells

open access: yesEuropean Spine Journal, 2023
Abstract Purpose This study aims to analyze the effect of pro-inflammatory cytokine-stimulated human annulus fibrosus cells (hAFCs) on the sensitization of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) cells. We further hypothesized that celecoxib (cxb) could inhibit hAFCs-induced DRG sensitization. Methods

A Network‐Based Approach to Understanding Key Signaling Pathways in Intervertebral Disc Biology

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
A literature‐based signaling network capturing the most relevant pathways in human nucleus pulposus cells was first constructed from curated biological evidence. The network was then translated into a system of ordinary differential equations to derive steady‐state solutions and define median baseline activity levels.
