Interleukin-3 and Hematopoiesis
2015Considerable information has accumulated over the past several years relating to the biological activities of IL-3 which supports that concept that IL-3 has a unique capacity to support the proliferation and differentiation of a wide spectrum of hematopoietic cells.

Antibodies to interleukin 3 as probes for the interaction of interleukin 3 with its receptor
Cytokine, 1991A series of antibodies, directed against murine interleukin-3 (IL-3) or synthetic peptides corresponding to portions of the IL-3 sequence, has been used to detect receptor-bound IL-3 on the surface of cells. An assay was developed in which the bound primary antibody was detected using a biotinylated secondary antibody and fluorescein isothiocyanate ...

Interleukin-3 (IL-3, multi-CSF) is a growth factor for a variety of hematopoietic progenitor cells. Recently, microglial cells, the resident macrophages of the central nervous system (CNS) have been shown to proliferate in the presence of IL-3 both in vivo and in culture.

Molecular evolution of interleukin-3
Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1994Chimpanzee, tamarin, and marmoset interleukin-3 (IL-3) genes were cloned, sequenced, and expressed. Western blot analysis demonstrated that functional genes were isolated. IL-3 sequences were compared with those of mouse, rat, rhesus monkey, gibbon, and man. Multiple alignment of the IL-3 coding regions showed that only a few regions had been conserved

Keratinocyte‐Derived Interleukin 3
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1988Interleukin 3 (IL 3) initially was described as a cytokine which is produced by murine T lymphocytes and has multicolony stimulating factor (CSF) activity, activates mast cells and induces the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cell lines. In addition to T cells murine keratinocytes also produce an IL 3-like factor which according to its biological ...

Interleukin-3 and its receptor
1995Cytokines are actively involved in the host-defense system to coordinate the functional activity and the generation of effector cells. Some of these molecules function as inflammatory mediators and hematopoietic growth factors at the same time such as IL-1, IL-6, IL-3, IL-5, and GM-CSF.
