Regulation of Interleukin-10 Expression

2016
Interleukin (IL)-10 is an essential anti-inflammatory cytokine that plays important roles as a negative regulator of immune responses to microbial antigens. Loss of IL-10 results in the spontaneous development of inflammatory bowel disease as a consequence of an excessive immune response to the gut microbiota.

Interleukin-10 and interleukin-10 receptor in human osteoarthritic and healthy chondrocytes.

Clinical and experimental rheumatology, 2001
To evaluate the expression of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and interleukin-10 receptor (IL-10R) on chondrocytes from healthy, osteoarthritic, and foetal cartilage from human subjects.Articular cartilage was obtained from 12 patients with osteoarthritis (OA) undergoing surgical knee replacement.

Circulating interleukin-10 and interleukin-12 in Parkinson’s disease

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2009
Interleukin (IL)-12 is a heterodimeric cytokine produced by activated blood monocytes, macrophages and glial cells. It enhances differentiation and proliferation of T cells and increases production of proinflammatory cytokines. IL-10 is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by both lymphocytes and mononuclear phagocytes including microglia.

Expression and regulation of interleukin‐10 and interleukin‐10 receptor in rat astroglial and microglial cells

European Journal of Neuroscience, 2002
AbstractActivated glial cells crucially contribute to brain inflammatory responses. Interleukin‐10 (IL‐10) is an important modulator of glial cell responses in the brain. In the present study we describe the expression of IL‐10 and the IL‐10 receptor (IL‐10R1) in primary cocultures of rat microglial and astroglial cells.

Properties and Functions of Interleukin-10

1994
Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on properties and functions of interleukin-10. IL10 inhibits several macrophage functions, including some microbicidal properties and presentation of antigen to TH 1 cells. In contrast, IL10 has generally enhancing or stimulatory functions on B cells and mast cells.

Interleukin 10 in Antiviral Responses

Current Immunology Reviews, 2016
The type of immune response a host can raise against an invading parasite may often be decisive between chronicity or clearance, and in the worst cases between host survival and death. Helper T cells are key to determining whether antibody-mediated, inflammatory or cytolytic responses will be predominant.

Interleukin-10 (IL-10)

2007
The Class II alpha helical family of cytokines now includes the extended Interleukin-10 family (IL-10, IL-19, IL-20, IL-22, and IL-26) as well as the closely related Interferon-a, Interferon-γ, and Interferon-τ (1–22). The importance of the distaff side of this family, the interferons (22,23), for cancer biology and tumor immunology has been well ...

Interleukin-10 and Transplantation Tolerance

1995
Despite significant progress in the past 20 years, induction of tolerance to host and donor HLA antigens after allogeneic transplantation, remains a rare event. Graft rejection and graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) are still the major obstacles to reach long-term engraftment and disease-free survival in patients transplanted with allogeneic ...
