US Monetary Policy and International Bond Markets [PDF]

open access: yesFinance and Economics Discussion Series, 2018
This paper uses high-frequency data to analyze the effects of US monetary policy--during the conventional and unconventional policy regimes--on foreign government bonds markets in advanced and emerging market economies. The results indicate that an expansionary US monetary policy steepens the foreign yield curve--denominated in local currency--during a

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Proposal for Bond Strength Considering Bond Characteristics of Beam Flexural Rebar on Interior Beam-Column Joints. Part I: Focusing on Concrete Compressive Strength

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials
The bond characteristic of beam longitudinal rebar penetrating reinforced concrete beam-column interior joints under cyclic loading is influenced by various factors such as compressive strength of concrete, yield strength of main rebar, diameter, and ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

International Bond Return Predictability

open access: yes, 2021
We study time-varying risk premia across international bond- and equity markets by running predictive regressions of excess returns. We nd that the single factor of Cochrane and Piazzesi (2005) and global factor of Dahlquist and Hasseltoft (2013) have lost some of their predictive power in later years, but they both individually and jointly predict ...

Effect of vibration on the interface properties of welded steel joints and filled concrete in steel pipes

open access: yesScientific Reports
Concrete-filled steel tubes (CFSTs) have been increasingly utilized in engineering due to their excellent mechanical properties. Ensuring a solid bond between a steel tube and concrete is essential for optimizing their synergistic effect.

Mastering the canonical loop of serine protease inhibitors: enhancing potency by optimising the internal hydrogen bond network. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BACKGROUND: Canonical serine protease inhibitors commonly bind to their targets through a rigid loop stabilised by an internal hydrogen bond network and disulfide bond(s).

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
