Long-term Outcome After Nonvascularized Rectus Fascia Transplantation in Solid Organ Transplantation: A Global Multicenter IIRTA Survey

open access: yesTransplantation Direct
Background. Abdominal wall (AW) closure after solid organ transplantation (SOT) is challenging in case of loss of abdominal domain and/or large-for-size grafts. Primary closure is crucial to avoid open abdomen-associated morbidity and mortality.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

Colonic dilation is associated with increased central line associated blood stream infection for patients with intestinal failure

open access: yesIntestinal Failure
Introduction: Management of intestinal failure involves supplemental nutrition and complication minimization to achieve enteral autonomy. Previous research to identify prognostic factors in IF focused on the small bowel, yet little work has been done to ...

Home parenteral nutrition with an omega-3-fatty-acid-enriched MCT/LCT lipid emulsion in patients with chronic intestinal failure (the HOME study):study protocol for a randomized, controlled, multicenter, international clinical trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Home parenteral nutrition (HPN) is a life-preserving therapy for patients with chronic intestinal failure (CIF) indicated for patients who cannot achieve their nutritional requirements by enteral intake.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

The negative impact on sleep for caregivers of children with intestinal failure on long-term parenteral nutrition

open access: yesIntestinal Failure
Objectives: Survival rates for children with intestinal failure (IF) have improved with care provided in the home by family caregivers. Our objective was to compare total nocturnal sleep time (TST-N) in caregivers of children with IF on home PN to ...

Parenteral Nutrition and Intestinal Failure

open access: yesNutrients, 2017
Severe short bowel syndrome (SBS) is a major cause of chronic (Type 3) intestinal failure (IF) where structural and functional changes contribute to malabsorption and risk of micronutrient deficiencies.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
