Interaction between ischemia-reperfusion injury and intestinal microecology in organ transplantation and its therapeutic prospects

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Organ transplantation is a vital intervention for end-stage organ failure; however, ischemia-reperfusion injury is a complication of transplantation, affecting the prognosis and survival of transplant recipients.

Potent Liver‐Tropic mRNA Lipid Nanoparticles: ApoE‐Mediated Delivery Through a Low‐Density Lipoprotein Receptor Independent Uptake Mechanism

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Helper and ionizable lipids play a crucial role in determining ApoE binding and subsequent liver tropism and LDLR‐mediated uptake. Ionizable lipids primarily govern the LDLR‐independent uptake pathway. This complementary interplay between lipid components ultimately governs LNP delivery performance and therapeutic efficacy in the liver.

Therapeutic faecal microbiota transplantation controls intestinal inflammation through IL10 secretion by immune cells

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Alteration of the gut microbiota has been associated with different gastrointestinal disorders. Normobiosis restoration by faecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is considered a promising therapeutic approach, even if the mechanisms underlying its ...

Anthropometrics, body composition, sarcopenia, and frailty in intestinal transplantation: A literature review and commentary

open access: yesIntestinal Failure
Frailty and sarcopenia are increasingly incorporated in the evaluation of solid organ transplant candidates. There can be adverse outcomes both pre- and post-transplant amongst patients identified as frail. Nutritional deficiencies and chronic illness in

Serotonergic System‐Targeted Nucleic Acid Hydrogel Coordinates Excitability Restoration and Circuit Reconstruction for Spinal Cord Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The study reports a DNA/RNA heteroduplex hydrogel (SeroPTEN‐CG) that undergoes DNase‐mediated hydrogel‐to‐nanogel transition for spinal cord injury therapy by targeting the serotonergic system, combining 5‐hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT)‐mediated excitability restoration to reactivate dormant interneurons with phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)‐targeted ...

Development of Artificial Sebaceous Gland‐Integrated In Vitro Human Skin Model

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Uniform 3D artificial sebaceous gland spheroids, termed SebaSpheres, are generated at high throughput using a microfluidic platform and structurally integrated into a collagen‐based skin construct containing fibroblasts and keratinocytes. This work presents a modular and scalable fabrication and integration strategy for incorporating sebaceous gland ...
