The Organizing Potential of Sphingolipids in Intracellular Membrane Transport
Physiological Reviews, 2001Eukaryotes are characterized by endomembranes that are connected by vesicular transport along secretory and endocytic pathways. The compositional differences between the various cellular membranes are maintained by sorting events, and it has long been believed that sorting is based solely on protein-protein interactions.

Calcium Pumps in the Plasma and Intracellular Membranes
1992ATP-powered Ca2+ pumps have now been extensively characterized in the plasma membrane of all eukaryotic cells, and in the membranes of fast and slow twitch sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and those of endoplasmic reticulum (ER). They have also been described in other membranes, e.g., the nuclear envelope and the lysosomes, but their characterization in the

Attachment of ribosome crystals to intracellular membranes
Journal of Molecular Biology, 1979The attachment to membranes of ribosome crystals formed by cooling lizard oocytes and chick embryos has been investigated by electron microscopy of whole cells and by biochemical and structural experiments, using the cross-linking reagent glutaraldehyde.

Intracellular membrane fusion.
Advances in second messenger and phosphoprotein research, 1995The NSF, SNAP, and SNAP receptors are key elements of the intracellular membrane fusion machinery. We use an affinity purification scheme, based on the function of SNAP receptor in assembling 20S fusion particles from NSF and SNAP proteins, to purify SNAP receptors from brain.

Intracellular Organelles and Membranes
This advanced chapter extends the discussion of the structure and composition of membranes and organelles to include aspects of their functions. The fluid-dynamic nature of the lipid-bilayer supports numerous processes including the transportation of materials and signals within and between cells.openaire +1 more source
Intracellular Membrane Organization in Mycobacteria
2017Reducing drag in fluid flow has been one of the most widely studied topics in fluid dynamics due to the significant impact on improving operational efficiencies and cutting cost in applications from the aerospace, automotive and naval industries. Over the past two decades, superhydrophobic surfaces have been in the spotlight due to their ability to ...

Membrane receptors and intracellular calcium.
Membrane & cell biology, 2000The mechanisms of Ca2+ level regulation in the cytoplasm by neurotransmitters, hormones, and growth factors and described. The role of G-proteins, second messengers and protein kinases in the regulation of activity of Ca2+ channels and pumps is discussed.
