Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Association between Extrinsic and Intrinsic Carpal Ligament Injuries at MR Arthrography and Carpal Instability at Radiography: Initial Observations

open access: yes, 2006
PURPOSE: To retrospectively compare the presence or absence of carpal instability on radiographs with the findings of magnetic resonance (MR) arthrographic evaluation of intrinsic and extrinsic ligament tears in patients with chronic wrist pain ...

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

The effect of intrinsic instability of cantilever on static mode atomic force spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2010
We show that the static force spectroscopy curve taken in an atomic force microscope is significantly modified due to presence of intrinsic cantilever instability which occurs as a result of its movement in a nonlinear force field.

A Chaotic State in the Transition From Single Toward Multiple Pulse for Soliton Fiber Lasers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
High-order soliton in anomalous-dispersion ultrafast fiber lasers is rarely researched due to its intrinsic instability in dissipative systems. For the first time, we numerically demonstrate the ultrafast pulse in fiber lasers will deviate from the ...

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Intrinsic thermoacoustic instability in hydrogen enriched partially premixed flames

open access: yes
The influence of hydrogen addition on the intrinsic thermoacoustic instability in swirl stabilized partially premixed methane flames is investigated using large eddy simulation (LES) and reduced order modeling (ROM). The LES results compare well with the

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Intrinsic paramagnetic Meissner effect due to s-wave odd-frequency superconductivity

open access: yes, 2015
In 1933, Meissner and Ochsenfeld reported the expulsion of magnetic flux-the diamagnetic Meissner effect-from the interior of superconducting lead. This discovery was crucial in formulating the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) theory of superconductivity.
