Drought tolerance of the photosynthetic apparatus of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) lines with introgressions in chromosome 2D from Aegilops tauschii Coss.

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции
One of the ways to increase yield stability of bread wheat under changing climatic conditions is through improving the photosynthesis efficiency. For this purpose, various genetic strategies are used.

Natural variation in the GNH1 promoter enhances plant height and grain yield in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Natural variation in the GRAIN NUMBER AND PLANT HEIGHT 1 (GNH1) promoter alleviates repression by the C2H2‐type transcription factor ZFP36, upregulating GNH1 expression and promoting auxin accumulation, thereby increasing rice plant height and grain yield. This elite allele serves as a valuable genetic resource for molecular breeding of high‐yield rice.

Response of stay-green quantitative trait locus (QTL) introgression sorghum lines to post-anthesis drought stress

open access: yes, 2015
An experiment was carried out to evaluate the response of sorghum stay-green quantitative trait locus (QTL) introgression lines under induced post-flowering drought stress. The QTL introgression was done in 2006 to 2008 from known stay-green lines to the

Genomic dissection of divergent selection reveals a roadmap for reciprocal improvement of Chinese and American soybean

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Genomic dissection of 2,377 soybean accessions identified 261 trait‐associated loci with distinct beneficial alleles in Chinese and American germplasms, enabled development of the Soybean Targeted Improvement Navigation System framework for targeted allele introgression, and provided genomic resources for knowledge‐driven soybean design breeding ...

A description of dental microanatomy and implantation geometry in Chamaeleonidae

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
A reassessment of the dental histology in adult chamaeleons reveals the presence of periodontal ligament. Alongside alveolar bone and cementum, these tissues together constitute a compacted and remodelled tripartite periodontium. Our findings include the novel observation of plicidentine‐like protuberances of dentine within underlying bone.

Phylogenomics of the American robin (Turdus migratorius) reveals hidden lineages and introgression

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
Phylogenomic analyses of Turdus migratorius uncover four previously unrecognized lineages, including a divergent Baja California lineage (T. m. confinis). The results reveal complex evolutionary relationships that depart from simple models of continuous divergence, supported by evidence of introgression between the Mexican lineage and its previously ...

Validation of shoot fly resistance introgression lines using SNP markers in sorghum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Shoot fly is a major pest in sorghum production globally. Shoot fly management using insecticides is expensive and environmentally un-safe. Therefore, host plant resistance is exploited to develop shoot fly resistance (SFR) lines including transfer of ...

California's vernal‐pool mousetails (Myosurus, Ranunculaceae): Phylogenetic analysis of ddRADseq data, hybridization tests, and species delimitation

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, EarlyView.
We present the first phylogenetic analysis of the Californian species of Myosurus. Our ddRADseq analysis reveals considerably more diversity than what was recognized in recent floristic treatments. Myosurus minimus subsp. apus was found to be a rare species restricted to Southern California and northwestern Baja California.
