An Objection to Naturalism and Atheism from Logic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
I proffer a success argument for classical logical consequence. I articulate in what sense that notion of consequence should be regarded as the privileged notion for metaphysical inquiry aimed at uncovering the fundamental nature of the world.

Artificial Intelligence Predictions in Huge Chemical Spaces: Chiroptical Properties of [6]‐helicene Family

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that a local, data‐driven AI model can accurately predict diverse optical and chiroptical properties of [6]helicenes using information from close structural neighbours. Combined with genetic algorithms, it enables inverse design for tailored properties, establishing practical structure–property rules for efficient molecular discovery ...

Brouwerian Intuitionism and Husserlian Phenomenology

open access: yesPhilosophia Scientiæ
How far can we go to establish a parallel between Brouwer’s intuitionism and Husserl’s transcendental phenomenology, especially when the latter deals with logic and mathematics? Positions on this question are diverse and sometimes quite divergent.

A Modified Intuitionistic Fuzzy Clustering Algorithm for Medical Image Segmentation

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Systems, 2018
This paper presents a modified intuitionistic fuzzy clustering (IFCM) algorithm for medical image segmentation. IFCM is a variant of the conventional fuzzy C-means (FCM) based on intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) theory.

De Kant à Gentzen, en passant par Brouwer, Hilbert et Frege

open access: yesPhilosophia Scientiæ, 2005
The aim of this paper is to analyse the reference to space and time in the foundation of mathematics. First, we describe the reference to time in Brouwer’s intuitionism and in Hilbert’s formalism in order to show that the reference to time leads to ...

Capacitive versus Faradaic Microelectrodes for Extracellular Stimulation: A Fully Coupled FEM–Hodgkin–Huxley Study of Thresholds and Current Redistribution

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
A fully coupled FEM–HH model shows that ideally capacitive microelectrodes can achieve lower charge‐density thresholds than Faradaic contacts under current‐controlled stimulation. The advantage stems from the dynamics of surface current density on capacitive interfaces, which redirects current beneath adherent neurons.

Smart Exploration of Perovskite Photovoltaics: From AI Driven Discovery to Autonomous Laboratories

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this review, we summarize the fundamentals of AI in automated materials science, and review AI applications in perovskite solar cells. Then, we sum up recent progress in AI‐guided manufacturing optimization, and highlight AI‐driven high‐throughput and autonomous laboratories.

Freedom, Anarchy and Conformism in Academic Research [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper I attempt to make a case for promoting the courage of rebels within the citadels of orthodoxy in academic research environments. Wicksell in Macroeconomics, Brouwer in the Foundations of Mathematics, Turing in Computability Theory, Sraffa ...

Carnap’s Principle of Tolerance and logical pluralism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Logical pluralism is the claim that there is more than one adequate logic. Many authors consider Carnap as one of the forerunners of logical pluralism.
