Cosmetic Surgeries on Knots and 3-Manifold Invariants

open access: yes, 2022
A common method of constructing 3-manifolds is via Dehn surgery on knots. A pair of surgeries on a knot is called purely cosmetic if the pair of resulting 3-manifolds are homeomorphic as oriented manifolds, whereas it is said to be chirally cosmetic if ...

Robust Estimation and Inference for Time‐Varying Unconditional Volatility

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We derive a general and robust estimator of a large class of parametric specifications of time‐varying unconditional volatility of financial returns, both univariate and multivariate, and establish the Consistency and Asymptotic Normality (CAN) of the estimator.

MILNOR’S INVARIANTS FOR KNOTS AND LINKS IN CLOSED ORIENTABLE 3-MANIFOLDS

open access: yes, 2023
Thesis (Ph.D.) - Indiana University, Department of Mathematics, 2023In his 1957 paper, John Milnor introduced a collection of invariants for links in S3 detecting higher-order linking phenomena by studying lower central quotients of link groups and ...

Penalized Convex Estimation in Dynamic Location Models

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper studies L1$$ {L}^1 $$‐penalized estimation for location models yt=mt+ϵt$$ {y}_t={m}_t+{\epsilon}_t $$, where mt$$ {m}_t $$ is defined by a possibly non‐Markovian recursion and ϵt$$ {\epsilon}_t $$ is a martingale difference sequence with possibly time‐varying conditional variance.

Configuration space integrals and invariants for 3-manifolds and knots [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The first part of this paper is a short review of the construction of invariants of rational homology 3-spheres and knots in terms of configuration space integrals. The second part describes the relationship between the above construction and Kontsevich'

Isotopy invariants for smooth tori in 4-manifolds

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper we define invariants under smooth isotopy for certain two-dimensional knots using some refined Cerf theory. One of the invariants is the knot type of some classical knot generalizing the string number of closed braids.

Graphical constructions for the sl(3), C2 and G2 invariants for virtual knots, virtual braids and free knots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Research in Pairs 2014We construct graph-valued analogues of the Kuperberg sl(3) and $G_2$ invariants for virtual knots. The restriction of the sl(3) and $G_2$ invariants for classical knots coincides with the usual Homflypt sl(3) invariant and $G_2 ...

Longitudinal Tracking of Astrocyte Reactivity During the Development of Chronic Orofacial Neuropathic Pain Using [18F]‐SMBT‐1 Positron‐Emission Tomography

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 8, August 2026.
Using [18F]‐SMBT‐1 PET, we longitudinally tracked MAO‐B–expressing reactive astrocytes during orofacial neuropathic pain development in rats, revealing region‐ and time‐specific astrocyte activation during pain chronification. ABSTRACT Chronic neuropathic pain represents a significant global health burden and is hypothesized to be maintained by an ...

Isomorphism of the groups of Vassiliev invariants of Legendrian and pseudo-Legendrian knots

open access: yes, 2003
The study of the Vassiliev invariants of Legendrian knots was started by D. Fuchs and S. Tabachnikov who showed that the groups of C-valued Vassiliev invariants of Legendrian and of framed knots in the standard contact R3 are canonically isomorphic ...
