Behavioral biases and representative agent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
International audienceIn this paper, we show that behavioral features can be obtained at a group level when the individuals of the group are heterogeneous enough.

Worth the Weight: Using Inverse Probability Weighted Cox Models in AIDS Research [PDF]

open access: yesAIDS Research and Human Retroviruses, 2014
In an observational study with a time-to-event outcome, the standard analytical approach is the Cox proportional hazards regression model. As an alternative to the standard Cox model, in this article we present a method that uses inverse probability (IP) weights to estimate the effect of a baseline exposure on a time-to-event outcome.

The McCance Brain Care Score and Mortality: Evidence From a Large‐Scale Population‐Based Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives This study aimed to examine the relationship between the McCance Brain Care Score (BCS) and mortality in the general population. Methods We conducted a prospective, population‐based cohort study using data from the UK Biobank. Participants with complete data enabling calculation of BCS and full mortality information were included ...

Estimation of Controlled Direct Effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When regression models adjust for mediators on the causal path from exposure to outcome, the regression coefficient of exposure is commonly viewed as a measure of the direct exposure effect.

Shared Genetic Effects and Antagonistic Pleiotropy Between Multiple Sclerosis and Common Cancers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Epidemiologic studies have reported inconsistent altered cancer risk in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Factors such as immune dysregulation, comorbidities, and disease‐modifying therapies may contribute to this variability.

ipw: An R Package for Inverse Probability Weighting

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2011
We describe the R package ipw for estimating inverse probability weights. We show how to use the package to fit marginal structural models through inverse probability weighting, to estimate causal effects.

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

Efficacy and Safety of Antiplatelet Therapy After Endovascular Aortic Repair: A Target Trial Emulation

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background The optimal antiplatelet regimen after standard endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) in patients without atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease remains uncertain.

Reperfusion‐Dependent Outcomes After Endovascular Thrombectomy Stratified by NIHSS‐ASPECTS Clinical‐Core Mismatch

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This analysis evaluates the effect of successful reperfusion on functional outcomes after MT, stratified by admission National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) as surrogates for clinical‐core mismatch, using multicenter registry data.

Healthy and unhealthy plant‐based diets in relation to the incidence of colorectal cancer overall and by molecular subtypes

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, 2022
Background Plant‐based foods have been recommended for health. However, not all plant foods are healthy, and little is known about the association between plant‐based diets and specific molecular subtypes of colorectal cancer (CRC).
