ISOLATION AND PURIFICATION OF GLUCOSYLTRANSFERASE FROM MUTANS STREPTOCOCCUS SOBRINUS (SEROTYPE G) LOCAL ISOLATE

open access: yesThe Iraqi Journal of Medical Sciences, 2016
Background: Glucosyltransferase is an extracellular enzyme produced by mutans streptococci responsible for polymerizing the glucose moiety of sucrose to form glucan.

Purification of bovine pancreatic glucagon as a by-product of insulin production

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1997
A process for purifying bovine pancreatic glucagon as a by-product of insulin production is described. The glucagon-containing supernatant from the alkaline crystallization of insulin was precipitated using ammonium sulfate and isoelectric precipitation.

Functional Analysis of Ligand‐Gated Chloride Channels in a Cnidarian Sheds Light on the Evolution of Inhibitory Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

A comparative study of ion exchange vs. ion pair chromatography for preparative separation of oligonucleotides

open access: yes
Oligonucleotides are commonly purified using either ion exchange chromatography (IEX) or ion-pair reversedphase liquid chromatography (IP-RPLC). This study compares the purification of a crude 20-mer oligonucleotide (ON) using both methods under ...

Microscopic insight into role of protein flexibility during ion exchange chromatography by nuclear magnetic resonance and quartz crystal microbalance approaches

open access: yes, 2016
Driven by the prevalent use of ion exchange chromatography (IEC) for polishing therapeutic proteins, many rules have been formulated to summarize the different dependencies between chromatographic data and various operational parameters of interest based

Purification of Erythropoietin by Ion-Exchange Chromatography.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1958
Abstract : A method is given for the purification of erythropoietin from the filtrate of acidified, boiled plasma prepared from phenylhydrazine anemic rabbits utilizing, DEAE-cellulose ion-exchange columns. The active erythropoietic factor thus prepared has been partially characterized and shown to be an acidic glycoprotein of low molecular weight.

Heme‐NO Dilates Arteries via Mobilization of NO Moieties From an Intracellular NO Store Within Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

ZDHHC9‐Mediated Palmitoylation of ACSL4 Drives Ferroptosis in Diabetes Mellitus–Induced Erectile Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.
