EISCAT/CRRES observations: Nightside ionospheric ion outflow and oxygen-rich substorm injections [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We present combined observations made near midnight by the EISCAT radar, all-sky cameras and the combined released and radiation efects satellite (CRRES) shortly before and during a substorm.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Advances in metal ion sources [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1989
Abstract Beams of metallic ion species can be produced by the ECR (electron cyclotron resonance) ion source and by the MEVVA (metal vapor vacuum arc) ion source. Although the ECR source is fundamentally a gaseous ion source, metal ion beams can be produced by introducing metallic feed material into the plasma discharge using a number of techniques ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Characteristics of an ECR ion beam source for low-pressure etching

open access: yes, 2022
S.2403-2405We have investigated an ECR ion beam source operated with a pair of coils and a two-grid extraction optics. The most important parameter for the source operation at low pressure (p smaller than 10 -3 mbar) is the magnetic field in the source ...

Cesiated surface H− ion source: optimization studies

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2017
The H ^− ion beam intensity required for high-energy and high-intensity proton accelerators is continuously increasing. The required 95%-beam transverse normalized root mean square emittance ( ε _95%rnms _x _/ _y ) of the beam is around 0.25 π mm mrad ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Minipermanent magnet high-current microwave ion source

open access: yes, 2006
A 2.45 GHz high-current microwave ion source with permanent magnet was developed at Peking University. The source body is about 10 cm in diameter and 10 cm in height, and its weight is less than 5 kg. It can operate in both pulse and continuous wave (cw)

Achievement of high-current continuous-wave deuteron injector for linear IFMIF prototype accelerator (LIPAc)

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
The Linear IFMIF (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility) Prototype Accelerator (LIPAc) is aiming at demonstrating the low-energy section of a 40 MeV/125 mA IFMIF deuteron accelerator up to 9 MeV with a full beam current in continuous-wave ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...
