Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Kinetics and equilibria of ion-molecule association reactions : studied using temperature variable high pressure ion sources [PDF]

open access: yes
Interest in termolecular association reactions of the type shown below, stems from their importance in the chemistry of planetary atmospheres, gas-cooled nuclear reactors and gas-phase cluster ions.

Investigation of a miniature differential ion thruster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Complex space missions involving formation flying or drag compensation are driving the need for spacecraft propulsion systems capable of providing low but also highly accurate thrust levels.

The nonlinear dustgrain-charging on large amplitude electrostatic waves in a dusty plasma with trapped ions [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 1998
The nonlinear dustgrain-charging and the influence of the ion density and temperature on electrostatic waves in a dusty plasma having trapped ions are investigated by numerical calculation. This work is the first approach to the effect of trapped ions in

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

Influence of ion energy and deposition temperature on the surface morphology of carbon films deposited by ion beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Carbon films were deposited by mass-selected ion beam technique with ion energies 50-200eV at a substrate temperature from room temperature to 80 degreesC,. For the energies used, smooth diamond-like carbon films were deposited at room temperature.

First direct evidence of meso-scale variability on ion-neutral dynamics using co-located tristatic fpis and EISCAT radar in Northern Scandinavia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
International audienceThis paper presents the first direct empirical evidence that mesoscale variations in ion velocities must be taken into consideration when calculating Joule heating and relating it to changes in ion temperatures and momentum transfer

Effects of Ion Temperature Anisotropy on Ion-scale Waves’ Generation in the Near-Sun Solar Wind: Parker Solar Probe Observations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
The ion-scale electromagnetic waves are observed frequently within 0.3 au. Their generation and dissipation driven by wave–particle interaction are very important energy transfer processes in the weak collision corona and solar wind and may be one of the
