Separation of ionol by crystallization
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 19721. An investigation has been carried out of the mutual solubility of dibutyl cresol isomers and of their solubility in monobutyl cresols and benzine. It was shown that the solubility of the individual dibutyl cresols follows the Le Chatelier's equation, so that the cooling temperatures of different feedstocks, required for extracting the maximum ...

Ionol (BHT) Produces Superoxide Anion
Biochemistry (Moscow), 2002In aqueous medium etiolated wheat seedlings release superoxide anion (O2*-). Interaction of a synthetic antioxidant, butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT, ionol), with oxygen in the aqueous medium is accompanied by O2*- formation. This suggests that under certain conditions BHT behaves as a prooxidant.

Corrective effect of clotrimazole and β-ionol during exposure to thiophenol
Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 2000Toxic effect of thiophenol on rats can be prevented by injection of antioxidant beta-ionol and clotrimazole, an inductor of phase I and II detoxication enzymes. Both agents increase o-demethylase activity of cytochrome P-450, but do not prevent inhibition of its water-soluble form, and activate cytosol and microsomal glutathione-dependent enzymes. Both

[Anticonvulsive effect of the antioxidant ionol].
Biulleten' eksperimental'noi biologii i meditsiny, 1981The influence of the antioxidant ionol on the intensity of epileptic activity in rats has been studied. The epileptic activity was induced by penicillin application to the sensorimotor cortex. It was established that preliminary injection to rats of ionol abolished the effect of lipoperoxidation in the focus of hyperactivity and decreased by a factor ...

Polysubstituted Ionol Derivatives as Inhibitors of Lipid Peroxidation
Russian Journal of General Chemistry, 2017Polysubstituted derivatives of sterically hindered phenol were found to reduce accumulation of hydroperoxides in the lipid extract from fish feed after 8-week incubation. Feeding of juvenile Russian sturgeon with fish food containing these compounds showed no negative effect on hydrobionts.

Radical products of the thermal decomposition of ionol hydroperoxide
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry, 1967It has been shown that the thermal decomposition of 4-hydroperoxy-4-methyl-2, 6-ditert-butylcyclohexadien-2, 5-one is accompanied by the rupture of the C-O bond in the COOH group, with the formation of 2, 6-ditert-butyl-4-methylphenoxyl radicals. On the basis of the electronic paramagnetic resonance spectra, it has been found that transfer of hydrogen ...

[Effect of ionol on carcinogenesis in the kidneys].
Voprosy onkologii, 1989The effect of treatment with an antioxidant--ionol (2,6-di-tert-butyl, 4-methylphenol)--on nitrosodimethylamine-induced carcinogenesis was studied. Large doses of ionol were found to inhibit tumor development in the kidney. This also involved intensification of spontaneous peroxidation of renal cortical membrane cell lipids which in turn was inhibited ...

Abstract The Lewis acid-catalysed reaction of 1-trimethylsiloxy-1,3-cyclohexadienes with aldehydes and trialkyl orthoformates afforded the corresponding 4-substituted 2-cyclohexenones. A new reaction of 2,4,6-trienones with m-chloroperbenzoic acid followed by the reduction with zinc in acetic acid gave 7-hydroxy-3,5-dienones.
