Comparison of Two Commercially Available Immunoassays for the Measurement of Bovine Cardiac Troponin I in Cattle With Induced Myocardial Injury

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020
Background: Multiple cardiac troponin I (cTnI) immunoassays are commercially available. Overall, assays have not been standardized, and inter-assay differences in the detection of the analyte cardiac troponin I can be clinically relevant. Objective: To ...

Toxoplasma gondii Syntaxin 6 is required for vesicular transport between endosomal-like compartments and the Golgi Complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Apicomplexans are obligate intracellular parasites that invade the host cell in an active process that relies on unique secretory organelles (micronemes, rhoptries and dense granules) localized at the apical tip of these highly polarized eukaryotes ...

Parâmetros ruminal, sangüíneo e urinário e digestibilidade de nutrientes em novilhas leiteiras recebendo diferentes níveis de monensina Effects of different dietary levels of monensin on nutrient digestibility and on ruminal, blood and urinary metabolites in dairy heifers

High glucose up-regulates ENaC and SGK1 expression in HCD-cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Background/Aim: Diabetic nephropathy is associated with progressive renal damage, leading to impaired function and end-stage renal failure. Secondary hypertension stems from a deranged ability of cells within the kidney to resolve and appropriately ...

At‐Home Early Diagnosis of Mastitis: Calibration‐Free Analysis of Sodium to Potassium Ratio in Breast Milk

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAMAWEL is introduced as the first calibration‐free potentiometric sensor for at‐home mastitis diagnosis. By measuring the sodium‐to‐potassium ratio in breast milk, the device reliably differentiates between healthy and mastitis‐affected samples with less than 10% error.

The ionophore resistance genes narA and narB are geographically widespread and linked to resistance to medically important antibiotics

open access: yesmSphere
Ionophores are a class of antibiotics used widely in animal production as anti-coccidials and for growth promotion. Since ionophores are not used in human medicine, it has largely been assumed that they do not contribute to medically important ...

Expanding Chemical Space of Nucleic Acid Nanoparticles for Tunable Antiviral‐Like Immunomodulatory Responses and Potent Adjuvant Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a nucleic acid nanoparticle (NANP) platform designed to be rrecognized by the human innate immune system in a regulated manner. By changing chemical composition while maintaining constant architectural parameters, we identify key determinants of immunorecognition enabling the rational design of NANPs with tunable immune activation profiles

Ionophore antibiotics and hop cones as regulators of digestion and metabolism in ruminants

open access: yesБіологічні студії
The general characteristics of ionophore antibiotics and the mechanisms of their antimicrobial action were analyzed. Two types of ionophore antibiotics are known: those that transport ions across the membrane, and those that form a channel in the cell ...
