Metallofullerenol Sc3N@C80(OH)18 demonstrates strong radioprotective properties as a scavenger of both short‐ and long‐lived radicals. The study reveals protection of human erythrocytes from γ‐radiation–induced biochemical damage via post‐irradiation removal of primary and secondary reactive oxidants, supported by pulse radiolysis kinetics.

Controversies on the Consequences of Iron Overload and Chelation in MDS
Many patients with MDS are prone to develop systemic and tissue iron overload in part as a consequence of disease-immanent ineffective erythropoiesis. However, chronic red blood cell transfusions, which are part of the supportive care regimen to correct ...

Protein corona plays a critical role in the biological behavior of nanoparticles. This study investigates the distribution of complement proteins in soft corona and their impact on the macrophage uptake of polymer nanoparticles. It underlines the significance of soft corona investigation for understanding in vivo performance of nanomedicines.

Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed

Novel Flaxseed Gum Nanocomposites are Slow Release Iron Supplements [PDF]
Nanocomposites, based on iron salts and soluble flaxseed gum (FG), were prepared as potential treatments of iron deficiency anemia (IDA). FG was extracted, characterized, and formulated into iron-loading nanocomposites via ion-exchange against FeCl_3 ...

Minihepcidins are rationally designed small peptides that mimic hepcidin activity in mice and may be useful for the treatment of iron overload [PDF]
Iron overload is the hallmark of hereditary hemochromatosis and a complication of iron-loading anemias such as β-thalassemia. Treatment can be burdensome and have significant side effects, and new therapeutic options are needed.
