Biological activities of isatin and its derivatives.

open access: yesActa pharmaceutica (Zagreb, Croatia), 2005
Isatin is an endogenous compound identified in humans that possesses a wide range of biological activities. Isatin has anxiogenic, sedative, anticonvulsant activities and acts as a potent antagonist on atrial natriuretic peptide receptors in vitro. A series of p-substituted isatin semicarbazones have shown anticonvulsant activity in MES, scPTZ and ...

Molecular diversity of the reactions of MBH carbonates of isatins and various nucleophiles

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
In this paper, the nucleophilic substitution reactions of various N- and P-containing nucleophiles to MBH carbonates of isatins were investigated. Diverse functionalized 3-substituted oxindole derivatives were successfully prepared in satisfactory yields

ELECTROLYTIC REDUCTION OF ISATIN AND ITS DERIVATIVES. Ⅱ.: REDUCTION OF N-METHYL ISATIN

open access: yesELECTROLYTIC REDUCTION OF ISATIN AND ITS DERIVATIVES. Ⅱ.: REDUCTION OF N-METHYL ISATIN
N-methyl-isatin can be reduced by the same process as in the case of isatin only by controlling the conditions as follows: (1) It is reduced to N-methyl-dioxyindol with lead cathode suspended in 20% dilute sulphuric acid solution. (2) It is reduced to N-methyl-oxyindol with mercury cathode In natrium sulphate solution.
