Antituberculous Activity of Norfloxacin Mannich Bases with Isatin Derivatives

Mannich bases of norfloxacin were synthesized by reacting them with formaldehyde and several isatin derivatives. The compounds were evaluated in vitro against <i>Mycobacterium tuberculosis </i>H₃₇R_v at 12.5 µg/ml in BACTEC 12B medium using the BACTEC radiometric system.

Isatin derivatives, a novel class of transthyretin fibrillogenesis inhibitors

The isatin core structure was found to be a novel chemical scaffold in transthyretin (TTR) fibrillogenesis inhibitor design. Among the series of isatin analogues prepared and tested, the nitro compound 1,3-dihydro-3-[(4-nitrophenyl)imino]-2H-indol-2-one (2r) is as potent as triiodophenol, which is one of the most active known TTR inhibitors.

Organocatalytic Enantioselective Peroxidation of Ketimines Derived from Isatins

The first catalytic enantioselective addition of hydroperoxides to ketimines derived from isatins has been developed. Excellent yields and enantioselectivities were observed for the reaction of various ketimines with peroxides using a cinchona alkaloid sulfonamide catalyst.
