Leveraging Spatial Information in Radiology Reports for Ischemic Stroke Phenotyping [PDF]
Classifying fine-grained ischemic stroke phenotypes relies on identifying important clinical information. Radiology reports provide relevant information with context to determine such phenotype information. We focus on stroke phenotypes with location-specific information: brain region affected, laterality, stroke stage, and lacunarity.

Predicting Clinical Outcome of Stroke Patients with Tractographic Feature [PDF]
The volume of stroke lesion is the gold standard for predicting the clinical outcome of stroke patients. However, the presence of stroke lesion may cause neural disruptions to other brain regions, and these potentially damaged regions may affect the clinical outcome of stroke patients.

Non‐Surgical, In‐Stent Membrane Bioelectronics for Long‐Term Intracranial Pressure Monitoring
This image shows a sequence of long‐term intracranial pressure monitoring using non‐surgical, in‐stent membrane bioelectronics. Abstract Traditional intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring methods, using intraventricular catheters, face significant limitations, including high invasiveness, discrete data, calibration complexities, and drift issues, which

Research progress on risk factors for recurrent ischemic stroke
Ischemic stroke has a high disability rate, mortality and recurrence rate. The term of recurrent ischemic stroke is patient's conditions occur again after improvement or recovery of ischemic stroke. The disability rate and mortality of recurrent ischemic

Neuropeptide Y Gene Promoter -399T/C Polymorphism Increases Risk of Ischemic Stroke
Background: Several genetic factors underlying ischemic stroke have been identified. Variants of Neuropeptide Y (NPY), whose product plays diverse roles in modulating physiological functions, have been associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke

Automated ischemic stroke lesion segmentation from 3D MRI [PDF]
Ischemic Stroke Lesion Segmentation challenge (ISLES 2022) offers a platform for researchers to compare their solutions to 3D segmentation of ischemic stroke regions from 3D MRIs. In this work, we describe our solution to ISLES 2022 segmentation task. We re-sample all images to a common resolution, use two input MRI modalities (DWI and ADC) and train ...

Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Final infarct prediction in acute ischemic stroke [PDF]
This article focuses on the control center of each human body: the brain. We will point out the pivotal role of the cerebral vasculature and how its complex mechanisms may vary between subjects. We then emphasize a specific acute pathological state, i.e., acute ischemic stroke, and show how medical imaging and its analysis can be used to define the ...
