Gas Chromatography‐Based Methods for Profiling Volatile Off‐Aroma Compounds in Grain Legumes: A Review

open access: yesLegume Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Instrumental characterisation of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs), responsible for off‐aroma, is mainly centred on gas chromatography‐based techniques. Despite previous reviews that have addressed the chemical compounds and biosynthetic pathways of off‐aroma generation, to date, there is a lack of a comprehensive review that critically ...

All hexokinase isoenzymes coexist in rat hepatocytes

open access: yes, 1984
The cellular distribution of hexokinase isoenzymes, N-acetylglucosaminase kinase and pyruvate kinases in rat liver was studied. Hepatocytes and non-parenchymal cells with high viability and almost no cross-contamination were obtained by perfusion in situ

Enolases: Limitations for Implementation in Clinical Practice (Critical Review)

open access: yesОбщая реаниматология
Enolases (ENOs) are involved in glycolysis, which is critical for providing energy to cells under hypoxic conditions. ENOs are attracting the attention of researchers as a potential diagnostic marker for critical conditions. The aim of this review is to ...

Cell Wall Metabolism of Two Varieties of Ber (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam.) Fruit During Ripening

open access: yesFood Technology and Biotechnology, 2012
Two ber varieties differing in their shelf lives (Umran, 8 to 9 and Illaichi, 4 to 5 days) were analyzed for cell wall components, cell wall degrading enzymes and their isoenzyme profile at immature green, mature green, turning colour, ripe and overripe ...

Inter- and intra-population genetic variability of introduced silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) strains raised in Bulgaria [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of BioScience and Biotechnology, 2013
The genetic variability of four populations belonging to two introduced silkworm strains (Bombyx mori L.) of various origins has been studied using isoenzymic analysis of six enzyme systems. Nonspecific esterases, phosphoglucomutase, malate dehydrogenase,

Zinc‐Coordination‐Driven Pyroptosis Nano‐Inductor Sensitizes Colorectal Cancer Chemo‐Immunotherapy by Specific Delivery and Cell Stemness Suppression

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
CD44‐targeted CNPs co‐deliver Zn2+ and MIT–ALA to CRC cells. Intracellularly, Zn2+ inhibits GLUT1‐dependent glycolysis, and ALA disrupts mitochondrial function, driving metabolic exhaustion in CSCs. This mitochondrial damage primes GSDMD‐mediated pyroptosis, accompanied by the release of pro‐inflammatory cytokines (IL‑1β, IL‑18).

Alkaline Phosphatase Isoenzymes

open access: yesEnzyme, 1982
Properties which differentiate the alkaline phosphatases from several human tissues are reviewed, together with ways in which these properties can be exploited to determine the tissues of origin of serum alkaline phosphatase. Examples are given of the results of the application of this approach to diagnostic problems.

The Use of Statins in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease: A 2021–2025 State‐of‐the‐Art Review of Clinical and Preclinical Evidence

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Statins, widely prescribed for cardiovascular prevention, have emerged as potential disease‐modifying agents in neurodegenerative disorders due to their pleiotropic effects on cholesterol metabolism, neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and protein aggregation.
