Higher genetic variation estimated by microsatellites compared to isoenzyme markers in Aedes aegypti from Rio de Janeiro

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2006
Aedes aegypti populations from five districts in Rio de Janeiro were analyzed using five microsatellites and six isoenzyme markers, to assess the amount of variation and patterns of gene flow at local levels.

Sex‐specific elevated incidence of glaucoma associated with topiramate versus valproate or lamotrigine in epilepsy, not migraine: A population‐based cohort study

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Topiramate has been linked to increased glaucoma risk, potentially through mechanisms involving ocular fluid shifts. However, comparative risks vs other antiseizure medications (ASMs) and variation by sex or indication remain uncertain.

Some important aspects in Moringa oleifera Lam. micropropagation

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2019
Type and source of explant as well as the type of cytokinin were important factors for successful moringa micropropagation. Explants obtained from in vitro grown plant materials were better than others obtained from soil growing seedlings.

The Study of Serum Prostate Specific Antigen and Phosphatase Isoenzymes Activity as Diagnostic Parameters in Patients with Prostate Cancer in Nigeria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Serum activities of Acid Phosphatase (ACP) and Prostatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP) are still employed in most hospitals in Nigeria for the diagnosis of prostate cancer, because of lack of resources for prostate specific antigen (PSA) assay.

Reduced Dietary Protein Induces Changes in the Dental Proteome

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
Low dietary protein (10%) from normal (20%) does change protein expression in tooth proteome and alter developmental pathways. Among the significant protein expressions changes are actin‐based myosins, tooth, and bone development proteins. Perplexingly tooth size is not altered, suggesting more nuanced phenotypic response to low dietary protein in ...

Ultrastructural and biochemical aspects of normal and hyperhydric eucalypt

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2008
Hyperhydricity was observed throughout in vitro multiplication phase of a Eucalyptus grandis clone. Ultrastructural approach of tissue and cell differentiation, izoenzyme patterns, binding protein (BiP) expression, and pigment content were performed ...
