Anther and Isolated Microspore Culture in Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.)

2021
Eggplant is one of the five important, worldwide-distributed solanaceous crops. The use of anther culture technology to produce pure, 100% homozygous doubled haploid lines for hybrid seed production is possible since 1982, where the first protocol of wide application to different eggplant materials was published.

Towards isolated microspores culture of red beet

Kartofel` i ovoshi, 2022

Anther culture and isolated microspore culture in timothy

2003
Timothy (Phleum pratense L.) is one of the basic forage grasses in the world and the most important grass in winter snow covered northern latitudes. It is considered to be allohexaploid in nature (2n=6x=42). Timothy is valued for its winter hardiness, good palatability, and moderate feeding quality.

Isolated Microspore Culture of Maize

1994
The process of androgenesis is unique, in that haploid embryos arise from single gametophytic cells. Clear evidence for the unicellular origin of somatic embryos is lacking for most regeneration systems (Fransz and Schel 1991); therefore, totipotent microspores offer a potentially useful subject for both basic and applied studies.

Morphogenesis in Isolated Microspore Cultures of Brassica juncea

Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2005
Androgenesis is a phenomenon in which microspores are made to bypass the sexual pathway and follow the sporophytic mode of development to generate new plants without the intervention of fertilization under specialized in vitro conditions. Microspore culture provides an ideal system, with a large, relatively uniform population of haploid cells, for use ...

Barley isolated microspore culture protocol

2003
Among the cereals, barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) has been most successful in haploid production with many new cultivars produced. Most of these have come from wide hybridisation with H. bulbosum pollination. However, the potential for larger numbers from the culture of microspores is greater and successful procedures for isolated microspore culture of ...

Isolated microspore culture and plant regeneration in rye (Secale cereale L.)

Plant Cell Reports, 2000
An isolated microspore culture and green plant regeneration method for rye (Secale cereale L.) was established. Rye isolated microspore androgenesis was genotype-dependent. PG-96M medium supplemented with 6% maltose gave the highest microspore survival rate after 48 h of culture and the highest embryo/callus yield (930 embryos/calli per 100 anthers ...

In vitro culture of isolated microspores and regeneration of plants in Brassica campestris

Plant Cell Reports, 1992
A protocol previously developed for B. napus microspore culture was modified to produce embryos from several lines of Brassica campestris. Bud size, genotype, media constituents, and incubation time and temperature were examined. Donor plants were grown in a growth cabinet at a day/night temperature of 10/5°C.

Haploid wheat isolated microspore culture protocol

2003
Haploid production in hexaploid wheats (Triticum aestivum L.) has been achieved mainly by wide hybridization. The first wide hybridization system using Hordeum bulbusom pollen was very genotype specific. However, the subsequent use of maize, sorghum or millet pollinators has largely overcome this genotype effect and the system is being used in many ...

A comparison of barley isolated microspore and anther culture and the influence of cell culture density

Plant Cell Reports, 1998
Comparisons were made between the efficiency of barley plant regeneration from anther culture (AC) and isolated microspore culture (IMC) for the European winter cultivar `Igri' and the spring F1 Australian breeder's hybrid Amagi Nijo×WI2585. In both cases, IMC produced a higher number of green regenerant plantlets per anther than AC.
