The effects of isoliquiritigenin on endometriosis in vivo and in vitro study

Phytomedicine, 2020
Endometriosis is a common gynaecological disease characterized by growth of uterine endometrial tissue, outside the uterine cavity, on the ovaries, oviduct and pelvic peritoneum. Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) is a natural flavonoid isolated from the root of licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis) and shallot (Allium cepa). ISL has previously shown antioxidant, anti-

Synthesis and Characterization of a Phosphate Prodrug of Isoliquiritigenin

Journal of Natural Products, 2017
Isoliquiritigenin (1) possesses a variety of biological activities in vitro. However, its poor aqueous solubility limits its use for subsequent in vivo experimentation. In order to enable the use of 1 for in vivo studies without the use of toxic carriers or cosolvents, a phosphate prodrug strategy was implemented relying on the availability of phenol ...

In Vitro Metabolism of Isoliquiritigenin by Human Liver Microsomes

Drug Metabolism and Disposition, 2008
Isoliquiritigenin (2',4',4-trihydroxychalcone), a chalcone found in licorice root and other plants, has shown potent antitumor, antioxidant, and phytoestrogenic activity in vitro. In preparation for in vivo studies, the metabolism of isoliquiritigenin by human liver microsomes was investigated, and seven phase 1 metabolites were identified. In addition

The potent anti-tumor-promoting agent isoliquiritigenin

Carcinogenesis, 1991
A topical application of a chalcone derivative, 4,2',4'-trihydroxychalcone (isoliquiritigenin) inhibited epidermal ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) induction and ear edema formation, i.e. inflammation, caused by a topical application of 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate (TPA) in CD-1 mice.

Isoliquiritigenin suppresses pulmonary metastasis of mouse renal cell carcinoma

Cancer Letters, 2002
Isoliquiritigenin is a chalcone isolated from licorice and shallots. The ability of isoliquiritigenin to suppress metastasis was examined in a pulmonary metastasis model of mouse renal cell carcinoma. Isoliquiritigenin significantly reduced pulmonary metastasis, without any weight loss or leukocytopenia.

Cocrystals of isoliquiritigenin with enhanced pharmacokinetic performance

CrystEngComm, 2016
Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) is an abundant dietary flavonoid with numerous pharmacological activities. However, isoliquiritigenin is poorly absorbed by the body which limits its clinical usage. Cocrystallization has attracted attention recently as a means of modifying unfavourable physicochemical properties of compounds.

In vivo anti-diabetic activity of derivatives of isoliquiritigenin and liquiritigenin

Phytomedicine, 2014
Isoliquiritigenin (ISL), a chalcone and liquiritigenin (LTG), a flavonoid found in licorice roots and several other plants. ISL displays antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor and hepatoprotective activities whereas LTG is an estrogenic compound, acts as an agonist selective for the β-subtype of the oestrogen receptor.

Isoliquiritigenin induces monocytic differentiation of HL-60 cells

Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 2009
It has been proven that isoliquiritigenin could inhibit the proliferation of some kinds of cancer cell lines and has a strong antioxidative activity. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the antioxidant isoliquiritigenin affects the proliferation and redifferentiation in HL-60 cells.

Isoliquiritigenin Induces Cytotoxicity in PC-12 Cells In Vitro

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2017
Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) has been reported to have a wide range of biological activities. This study evaluated the cytotoxic effect of ISL on norvegicus pheochromocytoma cell line (PC-12 cells) and its possible molecular mechanism. The cytotoxicity in vitro of ISL against PC-12 cells was investigated by MTT assay.

Molecular signatures in response to Isoliquiritigenin in lymphoblastoid cell lines

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2012
Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) has been known to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis of various cancer cells. However, genetic factors regulating ISL effects remain unclear. The aim of this study was to identify the molecular signatures involved in ISL-induced cell death of EBV-transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs) using microarray analyses.
