Production of 8-Prenylnaringenin from Isoxanthohumol through Biotransformation by Fungi Cells

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2011
8-Prenylnaringenin (8PN), which presents in hop, enjoys fame as the most potential phytoestrogen. Although a number of health effects are attributed to 8PN, few reports are available about the production of it. In this work, screening of fungi to efficiently transform isoxanthohumol (IXN) into 8PN was designed.

Enantiospecific pharmacokinetics of isoxanthohumol and its metabolite 8‐prenylnaringenin in the rat

Molecular Nutrition & Food Research, 2015
ScopeIsoxanthohumol (IX) is a bioactive dietary prenylflavanone found in hops (Humulus lupulusL.), beer and nutraceuticals. IX is formed in vivo by xanthohumol and is a prodrug of 8‐prenylnaringenin (8PN). IX and 8PN chirality has largely been ignored in the literature due to lack of enantiospecific bioanalytical methods. No single dose pharmacokinetic

Effect of xanthohumol and isoxanthohumol on 3T3-L1 cell apoptosis and adipogenesis

Apoptosis, 2007
Xanthohumol (XN), the chalcone from beer hops has several biological activities. XN has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and also has been reported to be involved in lipid metabolism. Based on these studies and our previous work with natural compounds, we hypothesized that XN and its isomeric flavanone, isoxanthohumol (IXN), would induce ...

Isoxanthohumol, a component of Sophora flavescens, promotes the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and induces idiosyncratic hepatotoxicity

Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2022
Sophora flavescens is a traditional Chinese medicine commonly used in clinical practice, which has the effects of clearing away heat and dampness. Unfortunately, it has been reported that Sophora flavescens and its preparation may cause liver damage to a certain extent, but the exact mechanism is not clear. To assess the safety and risk of Sophora ...

Preparation, characterization, and ex vivo evaluation of isoxanthohumol nanosuspension

International Journal of Pharmaceutics
This study assessed the equilibrium solubility, oil-water distribution coefficient, and dissociation constant of Isoxanthohumol (IXN), and formulated IXN nanoparticles (IXN-Nps) using a micro media grinding method. The research characterized the particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, morphology, and structure of the nanoparticles, and ...

On The Synthesis of Xanthohumol and Isoxanthohumol

Bulletin des Sociétés Chimiques Belges, 1961
AbstractThe structure of xanthohumol, a chalcone present in hops and isoxanthohumol, the corresponding flavanone, proved by us in previous papers are confirmed by further investigation.

Enantioseparation of Isoxanthohumol in Beer by Hydroxypropyl-γ-cyclodextrin-Modified Micellar Electrokinetic Chromatography

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2007
Chiral resolution of isoxanthohumol (IX) in beer samples was performed by hydroxypropyl-gamma-cyclodextrin-modified micellar electrokinetic chromatography. The optimum running conditions were found to be 20 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 45 mM hydroxypropyl-gamma-cyclodextrin and 100 mM sodium dodecyl sulfate with an effective voltage of +20 ...

Synthesis of (±) lupinifoun, di-o-methyl xanthohumol and isoxanthohumol and related compounds

Tetrahedron, 1978
Abstract Nuclear prenylation of naringenin (7) with 2-methylbut-3-en-2-ol in the presence of boron trifluoride etherate gives a mixture of 6-C-prenyl-(11), 8-C-prenyl-(15) and 6,8-di-C-prenyl-(8) derivatives. On formic acid cyclisation, 11 yielded two monodihydropyrans (12 and 13), but 15 afforded only one viz 16; similarly 8 formed the ...

Inhibition of TGF-β signaling, vasculogenic mimicry and proinflammatory gene expression by isoxanthohumol

Investigational New Drugs, 2011
TGF-β is a multifunctional cytokine that regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and extracellular matrix production. Deregulation of TGF-β production or signaling has been associated with a variety of pathological processes such as cancer, metastasis, angiogenesis and fibrosis.
