A kinetic study of xanthohumol cyclization to isoxanthohumol – A role of water
Journal of Molecular Structure, 2017Abstract Xanthohumol, a major prenylated chalcone found in hop resin, has recently attracted scientific interest due to its health-promoting properties. In the present work, we investigated the mechanism of xanthohumol cyclization to isoxanthohumol in an aqueous solution with a high pH by means of UV–Vis spectroscopy and liquid chromatography.

Isoxanthohumol (IX) and 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN) are prenylated flavonoids of hops (Humulus lupulus L.) with estrogenic activity that are under investigation as dietary supplements for the treatment of menopausal symptoms in women. Previous studies suggest a variety of phase I metabolites for IX and 8-PN and some conjugates, but there is less ...

Abstract 7477: Isoxanthohumol inhibits LPS-induced inflammatory responses in macrophages
Cancer ResearchAbstract Background: Pathogen infection, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungus, frequently leads to septicemia through a series of inflammatory responses that have very high fatality rates. And, servere inflammation may cause gene mutation which is beginning of cancer.

Isoxanthohumol (IXN), a prenylflavonoid from hops and beer, gained increasing attention as a potential chemopreventive agent. In the present study, IXN antimetastatic potential in vitro against the highly invasive melanoma cell line B16-F10 and in vivo in a murine metastatic model was investigated.

Abstract Xanthohumol was isolated from supercritical carbon dioxide–spent hop and transformed into isoxanthohumol. The demethylation of isoxanthohumol with the best yield 93% occurred when MgI 2 etherate in anhydrous THF was applied. Salts such as MgBr 2 , MgCl 2 , CaI 2 , Mg(OAc) 2 , Mg(OMe) 2 were also investigated.

Abstract8‐Prenylnaringenin and isoxanthohumol are prenylflavonoids found in the hop plant, Humulus lupulus (Cannabaceae), which is traditionally used to add bitterness and flavor to beer. Flavonoids have previously been reported to exert endocrine disrupting actions.

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a widespread pathogen causing clinical infections and is multi-resistant to many antibiotics, making it urgent need to develop novel antibacterials to combat MRSA. Here, a series of novel isoxanthohumol-amine conjugates were synthesized as antibacterials.

AbstractThe female flowers of hops (Humulus lupulus L.) used to flavor beer contain the prenylated flavonoids xanthohumol (XN) and isoxanthohumol (IX). IX is moderately estrogenic in vitro and XN has pharmacological properties that might make it useful as a cancer chemopreventive agent.

Abstract The main objective of this work was to understand which compounds are responsible for the partial inhibition of xanthohumol (XN) thermal isomerization during wort boiling of dark malts. With such purpose, worts from different kinds of malt (pale, caramel and roasted) were chemically characterized (e.g.

For many centuries, hops (Humulus lupulus L.) have been used as essential ingredient in beers, providing the typical bitterness and hoppy flavor. However, for the last few years the plant has gained increasing attention as a source of prenylflavonoids and in 1999, 8-prenylnaringenin was identified as the most potent phytoestrogen known so far. However,
