Cardiac-specific ITCH overexpression ameliorates septic cardiomyopathy via inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway

open access: yesJournal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology Plus, 2022
Background: Septic cardiomyopathy is a common complication of septic shock and organ dysfunction. ITCH is a HECT (homologous to the E6-AP carboxyl-terminus)-type ubiquitin E3 ligase that plays a critical role in inflammatory suppression.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Novel Topical Treatments for Itch

open access: yesDermatology and Therapy
The experience of itch often poses a burden on patient quality of life and has the capacity to inflict significant suffering. Topical therapies are a mainstay of treatment for many cutaneous and systemic diseases and afford patients the opportunity to ...

Exploring content and psychometric validity of newly developed assessment tools for itch and skin pain in atopic dermatitis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundAtopic dermatitis (AD) is a common skin disorder characterized by chronic inflammation, altered skin barrier function, and inflammatory cell skin infiltration that decreases health-related quality of life (HRQoL).

Chronic itch development in sensory neurons requires BRAF signaling pathways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Chronic itch, or pruritus, is associated with a wide range of skin abnormalities. The mechanisms responsible for chronic itch induction and persistence remain unclear.

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Circular RNA ITCH Is a Tumor Suppressor in Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma Metastasis through miR-106b-5p/PDCD4 Axis

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2021
High metastasis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) significantly influenced survival rate of ccRCC patients. Here, we intended to investigate the impacts of circular RNA ITCH (circ-ITCH) on the metastasis of ccRCC.

Aquarium dermatitis: Cercarial dermatitis in an aquarist [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A 33-year-old man presented with very itchy red papules on the back of his hands and forearms. These papules appeared about 90 min after he had cleaned his aquarium in which he kept native fish and watersnails.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

CircRNA Circ-ITCH Inhibits the Proliferation and Invasion of Glioma Cells Through Targeting the miR-106a-5p/SASH1 Axis

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2021
Circ-ITCH, a novel circRNA, was generated from several exons of itchy E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (ITCH). Recently, circ-ITCH has been demonstrated to be involved in cancer development.
