Structural and mechanistic basis for the regulation of the chloroplast signal recognition particle by (p)ppGpp

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LHCPs are transported to the thylakoid membrane via the (cp)SRP pathway. This process involves a transit complex of (cp)SRP43, (cp)SRP54 and LHCP, which interacts with (cp)FtsY and Alb3 at the membrane. GTP hydrolysis by (cp)SRP54 and (cp)FtsY triggers complex dissociation.

Unconventional mRNA processing and degradation pathways for the polycistronic yrzI (spyTA) mRNA in Bacillus subtilis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The S1025 peptide is the major antidote to the YrzI toxin, which we renamed here as SpyT (Small Peptide YrzI Toxin) and SpyA (Small Peptide YrzI Antitoxin) (1). Degradation of the toxin–antitoxin spyTA mRNA, either by a translation‐dependent cleavage by the endoribonuclease Rae1 (2) or by direct attack by 3′‐exoribonucleases (3), also contributes to ...

Stability for Two-class Multiserver-job Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Multiserver-job systems, where jobs require concurrent service at many servers, occur widely in practice. Much is known in the dropping setting, where jobs are immediately discarded if they require more servers than are currently available. However, very little is known in the more practical setting where jobs queue instead.

Scheduling to Optimize Sojourn Time of Successful Jobs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Deep neural networks training jobs and other iterative computations frequently include checkpoints where jobs can be canceled based on the current value of monitored metrics. While most of existing results focus on the performance of all jobs (both successfully completed and canceled), in this work we explore scheduling policies that improve the ...

Refining the NaV1.7 pharmacophore of a class of venom‐derived peptide inhibitors via a combination of in silico screening and rational engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Venom peptides have shown promise in treating pain. Our study uses computer screening to identify a peptide that targets a sodium channel (NaV1.7) linked to chronic pain. We produced the peptide in the laboratory and refined its design, advancing the search for innovative pain therapies.
