How Democratic Is Just Enough? Critical Reflections on the Transformative Potential of the Berlin Food Policy Council

open access: yesUrban Planning
In recent years, global social movements have increasingly challenged the corporate food regime, advocating for socio‐ecological transformations in the agri‐food system. This article questions whether food activists’ discourse and actions may potentially

Toward an Affective Problematics: A Deleuze-Guattarian Reading of Morality and Friendship in Toni Morrison’s Sula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
It might sound rather convincing to assume that we owe the pleasure of reading the novel form to our elemental repository of physical perception, to our feelings. This would be true only if mere feelings could add up to something more

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Etude on Recursion Elimination

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2018
Transformation-based program verification was a very important topic in early years of theory of programming. Great computer scientists contributed to these studies: John McCarthy, Amir Pnueli, Donald Knuth ... Many fascinating examples were examined and

Ultrasonic studies of the magnetic phase transition in MnSi

open access: yes, 2008
Measurements of the sound velocities in a single crystal of MnSi were performed in the temperature range 4-150 K. Elastic constants, controlling propagation of longitudinal waves reveal significant softening at a temperature of about 29.6 K and small ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Schr\"odinger Equation for Heavy Mesons Expanded in $1/m_Q$

open access: yes, 1995
Operating just once the naive Foldy-Wouthuysen-Tani transformation on the Schr\"odinger equation for $Q\bar q$ bound states described by a hamiltonian, we systematically develop a perturbation theory in $1/m_Q$ which enables one to solve the Schr ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Measuring social-ecological resilience reveals opportunities for transforming environmental governance

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2019
Understanding the resilience of social-ecological systems can advance our ability to transform environmental governance and achieve ecologically sustainable and socially just outcomes. However, measuring this multidimensional emergent system property has

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
