Engineered Mesenchymal Stem Cell–Derived Extracellular Vesicles Reverse Endothelial–Mesenchymal Transition in Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2025.
Scheme of EVs‐SIRT1‐VEGF as a targeted therapeutic for AS. ABSTRACT Endothelial–mesenchymal transition (EndMT) of vascular endothelial cells (VECs) plays a pivotal role in the progression of atherosclerosis (AS). The therapeutic potential of reversing EndMT holds promise for AS treatment.

Intranasal Delivery of Brain‐Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF)‐Loaded Small Extracellular Vesicles for Treating Acute Spinal Cord Injury in Rats and Monkeys

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2025.
Graphical Abstract ABSTRACT Besides surgical decompression, neuroprotection and neuroinflammation reduction are critical for acute spinal cord injury (SCI). In this study, we prepared small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) from immortalised mesenchymal stem cells overexpressing brain‐derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and evaluated whether intranasal ...

Distinct molecular properties and functions of small EV subpopulations isolated from human umbilical cord MSCs using tangential flow filtration combined with size exclusion chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2025.
Two subpopulations of sEVs isolated from human MSCs utilizing TFF and SEC exhibited difference on size, membrane markers or cargos. Different sEVs subpopulations represented distinct biological functions of MSCs. The biogenesis of sEVs subpopulations depended on distinct intracellular pathways.

Natural nanocarriers in oncology: The targeting and delivery capabilities of extracellular vesicles

open access: yesOpenNano
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nanoscale structures naturally released by cells that mediate intercellular communication by transporting bioactive cargo, including nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids. Their natural origin provides high biocompatibility,

Patterns in paternal and maternal filicide: A comparative analysis of filicide cases in Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Forensic Sciences, Volume 69, Issue 6, Page 2110-2119, November 2024.
Abstract Filicide is the act of a parent killing their own offspring. Previous studies indicate that there are both commonalities and distinctions between filicides committed by mothers and fathers. The main objective of this study was to compare maternal and paternal filicide with a major focus on clinical and sociodemographic features of perpetrators,
