Application of generalized additive models to explore minerals in sheep milk
: This study explores the complex relationships among ovine milk minerals (Ca, P, Na, K, Mg, K, Cl, respectively) and different factors employing generalized additive mixed models (GAMM). The GAMM included milk yield (MY), parity, and breed as parametric

We developed a gold nanoparticle‐based lateral flow immunoassay that pairs a fixed‐geometry smartphone reader with an Android application for quantitative serum Cystatin‐C measurement. The 15‐min assay covered 0.32–8.00 mg/L with a 0.15 mg/L detection limit and CVs below 10%.

Biochemical and functional characterisation of casein and whey protein hydrolysates : a study on the correlations between biochemical and functional properties using multivariate data analysis [PDF]
Whey protein and sodium caseinate were hydrolysed with commercially available enzyme preparations. The resulting hydrolysates were characterised using several analytical characterisation methods and by determination of several functional properties ...

ABSTRACT Vitamin B12 (cobalamin, Cbl) is an essential micronutrient for DNA synthesis and neurological development. Its deficiency in infants, although infrequent in developed countries, can cause megaloblastic anemia, psychomotor delay, and neurological damage that may become irreversible if not treated early.

Abstract BACKGROUND The world population is projected to reach nearly 9.7 billion by 2050, significantly increasing the demand for novel and sustainable protein sources. Edible insects, such as Tenebrio molitor, emerge as promising alternatives due to their high nutritional value, but adult insects and frass are direct and abundant by‐products of this ...

Effects of oat protein on hematological parameters and metabolism in Wistar rats
Abstract BACKGROUND Diets rich in plant‐based proteins are becoming increasingly popular, but the safety of extracted oat (Avena sativa L.) protein in relation to cardiometabolic and endocrine risks remains unexplored. This study evaluated the safety of oat protein by analyzing anthropometric, hematological, biochemical, and histopathological ...

Molar incisor hypomineralisation: current knowledge and practice
Background Molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) is a common developmental dental condition that presents in childhood. Areas of poorly formed enamel affect one or more first permanent molars and can cause opacities on the anterior teeth. MIH presents a variety of challenges for the dental team as well as functional and social impacts for affected ...

[Glycopeptide obtained from k-casein and its effect on protein assimilation].
The products of restricted proteolysis of kappa-casein were separated by gel filtration. Intravenous injection of high- and low-molecular fractions substantially reduced the pentagastrin-stimulated acid secretion in the anesthetized rat stomach. Intermediate fractions had lesser physiological activity.

The effect of milk constituents and crowding agents on amyloid fibril formation by κ-casein
When not incorporated into the casein micelle, κ-casein, a major milk protein, rapidly forms amyloid fibrils at physiological pH and temperature. In this study, the effects of milk components (calcium, lactose, lipids, and heparan sulfate) and crowding ...
