Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.

Milk somatic cell DNA isolation and characterization of κ-casein gene in Halari donkey milk

open access: yesHeliyon
Halari donkey breed is one of the indigenous breeds of India and its population is rapidly decreasing. The Jenny milk is more similar to human milk, exhibits a wide range of probiotic diversity and hypo-allergenicity, especially among infants suffering ...

Characterization of biodiversity in six goat breeds reared in Southern Italy by means of microsatellite and SNP markers

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
An integrated analysis, using 20 microsatellite markers and 32 SNP markers belonging to thecasein cluster has been carried out on 174 goats from 6 local goat breeds and populations from Southern Italy.Microsatellite markers provided 216 alleles (10.8 per

Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...

Effect Of Five Proteases Including Alcalase, Flavourzyme, Papain, Proteinase K And Trypsin On Antioxidative Activities Of Casein Hydrolysate From Goat Milk

open access: yesActa Universitatis Cibiniensis. Series E: Food Technology, 2015
Oxidation was related to the pathogenesis of human diseases. Adequate intake of antioxidant activity of food can reduce the levels of free radicals, prevent lipid peroxidation, and help the body against diseases.

Microarray analysis applied to the study of milk protein loci in cattle

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2010
Milk proteins still arise much interest because of the proved effects of the most common milk genetic polymorphisms on quantitative and qualitative milk production, as well as on milk technological properties. The role of αs1-casein (CSN1S1), β

Threonine 348 regulates the subcellular localization of PTEN

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Thr348 in the C2 domain is a key contributor to PTEN subcellular localization. The PTEN350 fragment and PTENA4 accumulated in the nucleus, whereas PTENK13R,A4 predominantly localized to the plasma membrane. In contrast, substitution of Thr348 with Asp (T348D) disrupted these characteristic localization patterns, resulting in predominant cytoplasmic ...

Generation of High Affinity Anti-Peptide Polyclonal Antibodies Recognizing Goat αs1-Casein

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The chemical, technological and allergy properties of goat’s milk are significantly affected by the level of αs1-casein. Detection and quantification of αs1-casein requires high-specificity methods to overcome high-sequence similarity between this ...

Polymorphism of k-casein and β-lactoglobuline in Simmental cattle in Serbia

open access: yesGenetika, 2018
The objective of this study was to determine the frequency of the ?-casein and ?-lactoglobulin genotypes in the Simmental cattle in Serbia and compare it with the frequency according to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium law. Blood samples were taken from a total of 157 cows of the Simmental breed in Toplica and Rasina districts.

Wearable Smart Patches on Sustainable Chitosan With Reversible Microbial Growth‐Inhibitory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chitosan, a polysaccharide upcycled from biowaste, has long promised sustainable, biocompatible, and antimicrobial films and devices, an appeal reinforced by its recent regulatory recognition, with several chitosan‐based antibacterial dressings gaining clearance through the Food and Drug Administration's 510(k) pathway.
