Phenotypic and molecular characterization of nosocomial K. pneumoniae isolates by ribotyping
Advances in Medical Sciences, 2015To characterize clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae by phenotypic and genotypic methods.Over a 12-month period, 52 isolates of K. pneumoniae were isolated. Of these 52 isolates, 7 were isolated over a period of 21 days from a suspected outbreak in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and 45 from sporadic cases occurring in different wards of ...

Influence of dhaT mutation of K. pneumoniae on 1,3-propanediol fermentation
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2010Metabolic role of 1,3-propanediol oxidoreductase (PDOR) in the production of 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) with K. pneumonia was investigated by knocking out the coded gene dhaT. Fermentation with both the wide-type and mutant were studied in 5 l fermentor. A PDOR-deficient mutant K. pneumonia T1.9131 with 19% PDOR activity of the wild type was constructed.

Klebsiella pneumoniae, a Gram-negative bacterium, poses a significant threat as a nosocomial pathogen due to its ability to rapidly develop resistance to various antibiotics. Gastrointestinal colonization by antibiotic-resistant strains among hospitalized patients not only increases the risk of nosocomial Klebsiella infections but also contributes to ...

The wide dissemination of carbapenemase producing K. pneumoniae (KPC-Kp) has caused a public health crisis of global dimensions, due to the serious infections in hospitalized patients associated with high mortality. In 2014, we aim to review clinical data on KPC-Kp at a time when a pro-active strategy (combating the problem before it is established) is

We describe the investigation and control of aKlebsiella pneumoniaecarbapenemase-producingK. pneumoniaeoutbreak in a 20-bed surgical intensive care unit during the period from January 1, 2009 through January 1, 2010. Nine patients were either colonized or infected with a monoclonal strain ofK.

Microbial Drug Resistance, 2015
The rate of fluoroquinolone (FQ) resistance among the cephalosporin-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae is considerably high, however, their genetic profiles have not been well investigated. We selected 61 ciprofloxacin-nonsusceptible isolates from 102 K. pneumoniae
