Quality Control Strategies for Differentiation of Kalanchoe Species. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Kalanchoe species products are commercially available in local markets and by internationally accessible online retailers and may exhibit quality issues because of misidentification from similar common names and anatomical similarities among related species used as feedstock. This study proposes an approach using UPLC‐MS/MSE and HPTLC, coupled

Summary Terrestrial CAM plants typically occur in hot semiarid regions, yet can show high crop productivity under favorable conditions. To achieve a more mechanistic understanding of CAM plant productivity, a biochemical model of diel metabolism was developed and integrated with 3‐D shoot morphology to predict the energetics of light interception and ...

Abstract Succulence is found across the world as an adaptation to water‐limited niches. The fleshy organs of succulent plants develop via enlarged photosynthetic chlorenchyma and/or achlorophyllous water storage hydrenchyma cells. The precise mechanism by which anatomical traits contribute to drought tolerance is unclear, as the effect of succulence is

Identifying and Evaluating Salt-Tolerant Halophytes Along a Tropical Coastal Zone: Growth Response and Desalination Potential. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Littoral soils along Ghana's coastal zones, hosting diverse halophytes with multiple potential applications, contain significant salt content due to seawater influence. This study identified and explored the nutritional, ecological, and medicinal significance of these halophytes, focusing on their salt tolerance and desalination abilities ...

Circadian and diel regulation of photosynthesis in the bryophyte Marchantia polymorpha
Abstract Circadian rhythms are 24‐h biological cycles that align metabolism, physiology, and development with daily environmental fluctuations. Photosynthetic processes are governed by the circadian clock in both flowering plants and some cyanobacteria, but it is unclear how extensively this is conserved throughout the green lineage.

Summary We have discovered a novel bacterium, Ochrobactrum haywardense H1 (Oh H1), which is capable of efficient plant transformation. Ochrobactrum is a new host for Agrobacterium‐derived vir and T‐DNA‐mediated transformation. Oh H1 is a unique, non‐phytopathogenic species, categorized as a BSL‐1 organism.

CAM photosynthesis: the acid test
Summary There is currently considerable interest in the prospects for bioengineering crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) photosynthesis – or key elements associated with it, such as increased water‐use efficiency – into C3 plants. Resolving how CAM photosynthesis evolved from the ancestral C3 pathway could provide valuable insights into the targets for ...

Abstract The analysis of the non‐exchangeable hydrogen isotope ratio (δ2Hne) in carbohydrates is mostly limited to the structural component cellulose, while simple high‐throughput methods for δ2Hne values of non‐structural carbohydrates (NSC) such as sugar and starch do not yet exist.

Ectopic expression of PmLEC1 leads to the formation of embryo‐like structures in the T2 lec1‐1PmLEC1 seedlings. Abstract Douglas‐fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is one of the world's premier lumber species and somatic embryogenesis (SE) is the most promising method for rapid propagation of superior tree genotypes.
