Abstract Crassulacean acid metabolism (CAM) is a photosynthetic pathway that temporally separates the nocturnal CO2 uptake, via phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC, C4 carboxylation), from the diurnal refixation by Rubisco (C3 carboxylation). At the end of the day (CAM‐Phase IV), when nocturnally stored CO2 has depleted, stomata reopen and allow ...

Comparative analysis revealed that the primary chromosome in Rhizobium rhizogenes was strongly conserved but the secondary chromosome was highly dynamic, showing huge rearrangements including both a large deletion and inversion. Detailed analysis of the agropine Ri plasmid suggested the evolution of a novel opine system.

The effect of plant extracts kalanchoe daigremontiana and aloe arborescens on the metabolism of human multiple myeloma cells [PDF]
The effect of plant extracts Kalanchoe daigremontiana, and Aloe arborescens on human multiple myeloma cells' viability was investigated. It was shown that plant extracts of kalanchoe and aloe reduced tumor cells' viability by 13 and 46%, respectively ...

Abstract Sedum, containing approximately 470 species, is by far the largest genus of Crassulaceae. Three decades of molecular phylogenetic work have provided evidence for the non‐monophyly of Sedum and many more of the 30 genera of Crassulaceae subfam. Sempervivoideae.

STRUCTURE OF LEAVES AND PHENOLIC ACIDS IN KALANCHOË DAIGREMONTIANA RAYM.-HAMET & H. PERRIER
Kalanchoë daigremontiana leaves contain phenolic compounds, which are one of the determinants of plant therapeutic properties. Light and scanning electron microscopes were used to analyse the structure of leaves.

Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi R. Hamet & H. Perrier, a non-conventional food plant in Brazil: HPLC-DAD-ESI-MS/MS profile and leaf histochemical location of flavonoids [PDF]
Kalanchoe fedtschenkoi (Crassulaceae) is a non-commercial food species in Brazil, whose leaves are used in several aqueous preparations. Their morphology and potential nutraceuticals (e.g., antioxidant phenolics) have been poorly studied.
