Polychromatic Kerr nonlinearity within electromagnetically induced transparency window

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2021
We study the nonlinear effect in a three-level atomic system in Λ configuration. As two or more fields are confined within the common electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) window, they directly disturb EIT dark state at the same time, which ...

Strain‐Modulated Reconfigurable Optical Information Processing in Flexible Graphene/PDMS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphene/PDMS—a stable, mechanically robust, and highly tunable flexible composite, exhibits excellent strain‐tunability. The spatial self‐phase modulation (SSPM) effect can be reversibly and continuously modulated by strain. A strain‐gated optical switch can be constructed, thereby realizing reconfigurable optical logic gates and reversible switching ...

Multiferroic‐Centric Materials and Systems Engineering for Battery Applications: An Insight Into Mechanisms, Strategies, and Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multiferroic order parameters – polarization, magnetization, and ferroelastic strain – are positioned as dynamic design variables for batteries. Their mechanistic roles, practical tuning through fabrication and external fields, and ferroic‐resolved characterization routes are unified into a closed‐loop framework, revealing how coupled ferroic responses

Quantum estimation of Kerr nonlinearity in driven-dissipative systems

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
We mainly investigate the quantum measurement of Kerr nonlinearity in the driven-dissipative system. Without the dissipation, the measurement precision of the nonlinearity parameter χ scales as “super-Heisenberg scaling” 1/N2 with N being the total ...

An exciting Approach to Theoretical Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Theoretical spectroscopy, and more generally, electronic‐structure theory, are powerful concepts for describing the complex many‐body interactions in materials. They cover methods from ground‐state properties to lattice excitations and light‐matter interaction, including time‐resolved variants.

Fully Programmable Slow Light Based on a Spinor Representation of Generalized Coupled‐Resonator‐Induced Transparency

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable coupled‐resonator‐induced transparency (CRIT) platform is proposed, generalizing classical electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) via a spinor representation. By utilizing dual‐channel gauge fields and universal unitary operations, this architecture enables dynamically engineered, reconfigurable slow‐light bands on a silicon ...

Tunable multiphoton bundles emission in a Kerr-type two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We present a study on manipulation and enhancement of multiphoton bundles emission under a moderate atom-cavity coupling, by constructing a two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model integrated with Kerr nonlinearity in a single atom-cavity system.

Radiation Resilient Synthetic Antiferromagnets‐Based Neuromorphic Device for Sea Surface Temperature Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By leveraging strong antiferromagnetic coupling, radiation‐tolerant synthetic antiferromagnetic synaptic devices are developed. Their intrinsic nonlinearity emulates neuronal activation, while linear and symmetric conductance modulation mimics synaptic plasticity.

Climate change and perennial crop production: Evidence of yield impact and adaptation in California

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Perennial crops are economically important. They contribute to food security, providing essential nutrients that are often lacking in annual crops, and provide additional environmental benefits compared with annual crops. Despite their importance, empirical research on the impacts of climate change and adaptation on perennial crops remains ...

Rib waveguides for Kerr nonlinear optics

open access: yesOptics Express
Optical amplifiers are fundamental to high-throughput optical communication systems, but traditional rare-earth-doped amplifiers with limited optical bandwidth increasingly constrain the scalability of next-generation fiber networks. Integrated optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs), based on Kerr nonlinear optics, can address this challenge by offering ...
