VOLUME CHANGE OF KIDNEY BEANS SOAKING IN WATER
Transactions of the ASAE, 2002Volume changes of four varieties of kidney beans during soaking in water were determined utilizing measurements of particle density and bulk density. The particle densities of samples were measured by a liquid–displacement method using a pycnometer at moisture contents from 15% to 125% (d.b.) and temperatures from 10³C to 50³C.

Studies on the Production of Red-Kidney-Bean Tempeh
Journal of Plant Foods, 1979AbstractRed kidney beans of the Canadian Wonder variety can be used as a substrate for production of a fermented tempeh-like product using Rhizopus oligosporus. The optimum conditions for fermentation require soaking, dehulling, and boiling of beans for 20 min followed by innoculation and incubation at ambient temperatures for 48 hours. The fermentation

Acid pyrophosphatase from red kidney beans
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 1993Partial purification of acid pyrophosphatase activity from dried red kidney beans was achieved. The crude enzyme was found to adhere to plastic and was very unstable. These problems were solved by extraction with low pH and high-ionic-strength buffers. This extraction procedure separated acid pyrophosphatase activity into three parts.

The effect of kidney-bean leucoagglutinin on homograft rejection in mice

Fractionation of proteins from kidney beans (Phaseolus vulgaris)
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1965Abstract Proteins extracted from the seeds of black kidney beans have been separated by ammonium sulfate fractionation and free-flow electrophoresis into fractions: two soluble in salt solutions and nine water-soluble. Four of these fractions had hemagglutinating activity, but only two different hemagglutinating proteins could be demonstrated with ...

The binding of kidney-bean phytohemagglutinin by Ehrlich ascites carcinoma
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1965Abstract 1. 1. The phytohemagglutinin of the red kidney bean agglutinates 3 types of erythrocytes, 4 reticuloendothelial cell types, and 3 mouse tumors with different avidity. Evidence is provided that these cell types have surface receptors in common which are responsible for their agglutination. 2. 2.
