Non-proportional deformation paths for sheet metal: experiments and models [PDF]
For mild steel, after significant plastic deformation in one direction, a subsequent deformation in an orthogonal direction shows a typical stress overshoot compared to monotonic deformation. This phenomenon is investigated experimentally and numerically

Kinematic Hardening of AISI 5120 During Machining Operations
Abstract Metal manufacturing processes like machining include complicated load cases and significant plastic deformation inside the manufactured component. The Finite-Element-Method (FEM) has been successfully applied to analyze machining processes.

Development of Heat Engines Powered by Twisted and Coiled Polymer Fiber Actuators
Continuously rotating engines driven by thermally responsive actuating materials can turn waste heat into useful energy. For the first time heat engines operated by twisted and coiled polymer fiber actuators are demonstrated with engine design guided by two simple analytical models.

Shakedown and collapse of elastic-plastic structures under variable and cyclic loads
The paper presents an introduction to the results obtained mainly by the author in shakedown analysis of elastic plastic structures, with the shakedown theorems for elastic plastic kinematic hardening materials playing the central role. Some illustrative

A thermoviscoplastic model with damage for simultaneous hot/cold forging analysis [PDF]
A constitutive model is presented for simultaneous hot/cold forming processes of steels. The phenomenological material theory is based on an enhanced rheological model and accounts temperature dependently for nonlinear hardening, thermally activated ...

On materially and geometrically non-linear analysis of reinforced concrete planar frames [PDF]
A family of new beam finite elements for geometrically and materially non-linear static analysis of reinforced concrete planar frames is derived, in which strain measures are the only interpolated unknowns, and where the constitutive and equilibrium ...
