The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

New measurements on isobaric fission product yields and mean kinetic energy for 241Pu thermal neutron-induced fission

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Nuclear fission yields data measurements for thermal neutron induced fission of 241Pu have been carried out at the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, using the Lohengrin mass spectrometer. Mass, isotopic and isomeric yields have been extracted for

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Comparison of CO2 gasification of coal in isothermal and non-isothermal conditions [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The thermogravimetric method allows to carry out measurements both in isothermal conditions for a given temperature and in non-isothermal conditions at a set heating rate. The aim of the work was to compare the process of gasification of the same coal in

Kinetic Measurement of T 4 Following Column Chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, 1975
A kinetic measurement of the eluates from the column purification of T4 is described. The choice of cation exchange chromatography to reduce interfering X-ray contrast substances, and the influence of protein in the reaction have been evaluated. Data for precision, inter and intra assay reproducibility, detection limit and normal values are reported ...

Kinetic Microscale Thermophoresis for Simultaneous Measurement of Binding Affinity and Kinetics

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2021
AbstractMicroscale thermophoresis (MST) is a versatile technique to measure binding affinities of binder–ligand systems, based on the directional movement of molecules in a temperature gradient. We extended MST to measure binding kinetics as well as binding affinity in a single experiment by increasing the thermal dissipation of the sample. The kinetic

Electron Radiated Power in Cyclotron Radiation Emission Spectroscopy Experiments

open access: yes, 2019
The recently developed technique of Cyclotron Radiation Emission Spectroscopy (CRES) uses frequency information from the cyclotron motion of an electron in a magnetic bottle to infer its kinetic energy.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Assessment of the Kinetic Trajectory of the Median Nerve in the Wrist by High-Frequency Ultrasound

open access: yesSensors, 2014
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is typically diagnosed by physical examination or nerve conduction measurements. With these diagnostics however it is difficult to obtain anatomical information in the carpal tunnel.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
